The first couple of weeks here were nice. We had intensive French in the mornings and site visits in the afternoon but for the most part didn't really have any academic responsibilities. So for two weeks or so I wandered around a lot and got to know my neighborhood. I found some parks that I like and some neat places to get vegetables. There is a small magazine here that comes out every week and costs 40 cents called the Pariscope. If you come here get one. It lists every kind of event going on during the week - concerts, art exhibitions, movies, festivals etc. It also has reviews and lists of restaurants. Anyway, there are dozens of free concerts here every week so I have been using it do decide which ones to go to. After the fist two weeks class loads started pretty quickly. It takes a while to get to my school from my apartment and I am cooking almost every meal so the time I have in the day to work is a lot less than what I am used to. I have to work in my apartment too which is sometimes hard. There is a bed there among other distractions.
