This broke me. Utterly, completely, profoundly.

Oh no! While it's always nice to hear that something I write is emotionally affecting, I didn't mean to break anyone... :( Okay, your comment was really nice and detailed, so I'm going to respond in kind:

While Sasuke had learnt a whole slew of jutsus and become powerful enough to overpower Orochimaru Naruto has not learnt a single new thing except expand on close range battle jutsus.

I guess...I'm okay with that, at this point. From the beginning, their dynamic has always been that Sasuke is a few steps ahead of Naruto, skill-wise. It's one of the things that fuels their rivalry and keeps them connected, I think, so it doesn't bother me toooo much. Unlike Sasuke, Naruto's real strength has always come out when he's defending someone or something he loves, and I don't think we've seen him in that sort of battle against Sasuke yet, post-time-skip.

I hope to goodness he clicks to use a clone to gather the natural energy by himself at the least!

Again, I'm okay if he doesn't, I think, because Naruto has always been about comradeship, whereas Sasuke is about individual power. I'm not sure I care if Naruto is as powerful individually as Sasuke, because the truth is that Naruto has more people who love him and are willing to trust him and fight by his side. I'm okay with him overpowering Sasuke through the bonds of friendship he's created, as opposed to crazy new jutsus.

Those are just my opinions, though, and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to Sasuke getting a taste of Naruto's new strength sometime soon in the manga.

Not to mention, Sasuke's powers are making him go blind. Naruto, on the other hand, is actually doing his best to keep his particular self-destructive power (i.e. the Kyuubi) under wraps. It's Sasuke's hunger for power that keeps pushing him forward, and I don't think I'd like to see Naruto turn into that, even if it meant he could be equal in skill to Sasuke.

I remember vividly now that yes, you made me cry from the start, your ffic the first I’d encountered. You capture them all so beautifully, their intricacies, the nuance of their interrelationships.

Thank you!

And guess what I found? Hope. Is this Naruto’s genjutsu? LOL or is that a fool’s hope?

Oh man, now I wish I had thought to make Naruto use some cool genjutsu. Crap. Kishimoto I am not. BUT...while I don't want to spoil the story, I'll say that this is posted in the sasuxnaru community for a reason, and there's still an entire third of the fic left.... Ahem.

what hurt the most is how calculating Sasuke was, there was no excuse in canon I had always found a loophole in why Naruto survived i.e. Sasuke really loves him and didn't really want him dead lol

I think I was imagining it as less calculating and more resigned. Like, Sasuke always assumed their rivalry would end with one of them dying, and even though it's painful, he finds it unavoidable b/c of his whole vengeance shtick. (As opposed to Naruto who always, always believes that he can make things better and he's not chained to any particular future). I'm not sure canon Sasuke realizes how painful Naruto's death would be for him, though.

but here, stabbing him, electrifying him was not enough. He had to suffocate him too.

Haha, yes my Sasuke is evil. He will suffocate a dying Naruto if it means he doesn't have to listen to Naruto say things he doesn't want to hear. I think Sasuke is pretty profoundly selfish, actually.

I just really hope you make Sasuke SUFFER because I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive him this!

I'm not sure ANY amount of suffering could truly make up for what Sasuke's put Naruto through, but the lovely thing about Naruto is that Naruto wouldn't need Sasuke to suffer in order to forgive him. He just wants his friend back, I think.

In conclusion: don't cry! It's angsty, but it's not over yet!

Wow! Your reply reminds me why I fell for Naruto for starters, thanks :)
