Best Fireworks Ever in Three Easy Steps...

Sep 04, 2006 00:59

(Just find a Castle on a hill right in the middle of a city; a 100,000 fireworks and a fabulous Orchestra.)

These have been the most amazing fireworks I have ever seen in my entire life.

There's never been any place in Australia (that I've seen) that is a perfect a place to have fireworks from as Edinburgh Castle. All money, technology and skill aside (although except for the money I'd say the technology and skill in a lot of places would be competitive) there's no way anyone could beat a show from Edinburgh Castle by having it off the Sydney Harbour Bridge :S.

So in the interest of protecting other Edinburgers from a sight they're probably well and truly over by now (especially after hearing how disappointed a lot of people were in this years show and yet I'm so incredibly impressed with it- and shush on the *silly Australian* comment's to any Edinburgers reading this :P), I'll Cut my photos.

Fireworks ends Edinburgh Festival
Fireworks display at Edinburgh Castle
More than 100,000 fireworks will be set off in Edinburgh
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Edinburgh centre to watch the fireworks concert to mark the end of the Edinburgh International Festival.

The spectacular finale has been sponsored by the Bank of Scotland for the past 11 years.

More than 100,000 fireworks will be used to illuminate the skyline against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

The 45-minute performance kicks off on Sunday at 2100 BST with live music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Scotland's internationally acclaimed young conductor Garry Walker has been rehearsing with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for their performance of Prokofiev's passionate and dramatic Romeo and Juliet.

The Bank of Scotland Fireworks Concert is the biggest annual event of its kind in Europe using 4.5 tonnes of explosives, with over 150 firing sequences and up to 200 fireworks in each sequence.

Firstly and excuse about the quality of the shots! There was a VERY strong breeze blowing and looking at some of the movies I took it actually looked like I was moving the camera because the fireworks were drifting so rapidly. Since there were so many fireworks, it confused my camera whether it was in fireworks mode or normal mode! I'm not sure if it was because of the breeze, but there was a LOT of smoke also being chocked out from the fireworks. There was a waterfall coming off the side of the castle at one stage, but the smoke was so strong I couldn't get a shot. Regardless of these not being perfect, these were my favourites:

You can see how strong the breeze was in these:

This one looks like Edinburgh Castle is on fire. I think it's gorgeous
(hmmm, does that make me Nero in a past life?)

Coldfire.

Still smoking away..(*violin solo*)

And if you're going to have the smokey hazy shot- this is my favourite.

And finally a movie (about 3MB)
