So I just had my first surgery with a general anesthetic.... to seal up an additional and unnecessary butthole (fistula). Kirsten was worried, and she wondered why I wasn't nervous:
"The only way I'll know how it goes is if it comes out okay. Or if I show up in front of God, asking why I couldn't have died in an explosion like I wanted."
Anyway, that was Friday, and since then things have been... boring. I spent the first two days holding in what became a solid rock of waste (had to leave the bandages on for 48 hours), and have been taking occasional short walks to keep from developing blood clots in my legs. It doesn't give me too much pain, which is great considering I found out with this little experience that percoset has absolutely no effect on me. I had a bit of a sore ankle as a standard of reference, and it didn't even dim it. And it didn't make me in the least sleepy, dizzy, or (as the nurse said happens in some cases) hyper. Nothing. A cup of coffee does more for me. Weeeeeak.
So I've been spending the day between laying face-down on the couch and taking shallow baths.
Fun. Times.
I can't wait until I can go back to work.
