The NPR article is spot on, but I wouldn't expect anything less. This should be sending shock waves through creative Hollywood. It's certainly just the sort of sign that no one, from disgruntled and powerless (supposedly, because NBC doesn't value an audience, apparently) viewers to those in the industry who deal with various networks- including, unfortunately for some, NBC. Everyone can only hope that unlike the "Time" cover with Leno touting him and his show as "The Future of Television," that that is furthest from the truth.

Brook Willard's sentiments are just plain sad, and only fuel more anger and disappointment at how poorly this has been handled all along.

Thanks for the links and the info.

As depressing as the cancellation is, it's heartening that every response I've read--from critics, fans, and people in the industry--sees NBC's treatment of Southland as asinine--as, in fact, the likely death knell of the network. NBC? Now Nothing But Crap. It hurts to recall what fine, ground-breaking shows it once featured.

I do hope that all the ire over Southland's cancellation helps it find a new home. As for NBC? It has become one of its own shows: The Biggest Loser.
