We went to a museum today and the exhibit was on dinosaurs. It was so completely over-crowded because school is out and there are mom’s and kids and grandparents everywhere. I think mon chou and I were the only adults without kids. We walked around the museum, looking at the life-like dinosaur exhibits in waiting for our turn at the IMAX show called DINOSAURS ALIVE, and ironically hosted by Michael Douglas. I knew I would freak out in the IMAX theater because the last time I went to one of these, I did. I told mon chou that we had to sit on the outside near the exit in case I freaked. It’s the dome shape that just really makes me uncomfortable. I feel like I can’t breathe and that I’m being enclosed upon. Smothering. So, I awaited for the film to start, my hands and feet sweating. I calmed my breathing and just closed my eyes until it started.
Naturally, I was fine after the film started but about half way I felt the urge. You know, the urge to…wee! It always happens at the most inconvenient times. I told mon chou that I couldn’t take it any longer. Since we were at the bottom, where I wanted to stay in case of my freak out I had to walk up all the way to the top ( VERY far from where we were) and by time I made it there I was out of breath. I walked out the double doors afraid that I wouldn’t be able to return into the theater. I then saw an older man and a young boy going into the door marked “late entrance.” I then run around the floor to find it is actually enclosed and there is no where to exit but down two flights of stairs, which leads to the lobby of the IMAX and I finally find a toilet. Now on my way back I hurriedly run up the two flights of stairs, back to the “Late Entrance” door, which leads to the opposite side of the theater. As I quickly but trying to be ever-so-quiet, I can feel people looking at me. I don’t stop and instead reach the first level where mon chou is waiting at the other end. I was okay with the film, but a few times I had to close my eyes. I was a bit disappointed with the museum because although I do like dinosaurs, I’d rather see something on archeology instead. Also they had the
Human Body Exhibit last year, I wish I would have went! I really want to see it.
