Congratulations!

As I walk the dogs in the slight bitter chill of 55F in Florida, I become completely aware of fall. When I see Orion make his appearance in the clear night sky, as if God is putting on a show of stars just for me to look up and smile. Fall will always been synonymous with Orion.

Tonight my SIL T got engaged to D. (Abbreviations of course for privacy). D and T have been dating for 7 years. Yup 7 years and tonight he finally popped the question. This has been in the works for about the last month I think and tonight we all had dinner to celebrate the engagement in a sort of informal engagement party. My mom and I were pretty much responsible for getting to the restaurant and getting a table for 11 before the dinner rush came in. We left at 5:00pm, getting there around 5:15 and I was told it would be a 20 - 30 minute wait. No problem, right? Well of course there was a problem! I am not capable of simple living as much as I desire to but then what would be the fun.

At this point I'm fishing around in my extremely large bag with no organization to realize that I have misplaced my mobile. I had it before I left the house, and I was 100% certain it was in my bag. I checked all the pockets and panic began to set in. Mom stopped to get a drink and I told her I was going out to the car to see if I had left my mobile there as I couldn't find it. No. It wasn't there. I searched all over the place, nothing. At this point, I'm getting nervous because it's nearing 6:00pm and that's the time Ryan was to be expected. I call his mobile from the restaurant and it goes straight to voicemail and I leave a message that I'm pretty sure I'm at the right restaurant but I don't have my phone with me and I just wanted to let him know where I was. So it's now about 6:10 and I decide that I'll leave my mom at the table to hold our place and get in my car and drive out of the parking lot. As I drive out, I see my MIL driving in and promptly turn around. I get out and meet her as well as T, D and D's parents.

Apparently the waitress didn't change the name on the reservation from Jessica to our last name. D's parents didn't know that I was there but they put in a reservation anyway and later I was told for 1.5 hour wait! I took them to the table where MIL tells me that I have to go get Ryan because his car is broken, again. Baby T is upset so I grab her to take her with me. We arrive at Ryan's work and he says he's not sure what the problem is because it's completely working on electrical perspective but it won't even turn over. We go back to the restaurant and are able to eat. I'm playing with Baby T the entire night so by the end of the meal I'm beat! Ryan had to go pick up a friend S for the informal engagement party and needed my car. I drove the mom's and Baby T to pick up the cake at the grocery store. But first before we got to the grocery store, we called to tell the fam that was waiting at our house we were on our way and then we find out that Pop has gone. Pop is Ryan's 91 year-old grandfather who very much still has his wits about him. Apparently Ryan's cousin came by first and he told her that we'd left him and so I find out later from her that they go to the gas station to try and call her father to let them know we're not home because she doesn't have her mobile. In the meantime half the family is outside my MIL house waiting because Pop was supposed to be inside! Pop was left because MIL was running late and he was going to slow - this often happens and we always tell him to get ready sooner than later. Of course he'll forget that the present is the present and then make up stuff like we left him on purpose and a lot of other stuff but even though he's still got his wits, I promise!

So the entire family is outside MIL house, I drop off MIL and Baby T and my mom and I go pick up the cake and I get flowers. We arrive back at 9, take pictures and eat cake and celebrate until about an hour later and I come home to take my dogs out. Ahh, family.
