This past weekend we spent a free day at the beach at a hotel in St.Petersburg courtesy of having season tickets they have us two-day, one night stay. It was a nice getaway for a freebie and I'm not one to complain. The outside of the hotel was decorated with loads of palm trees and exotic plants as well as night lights. It set the mood for a nice tropical setting. It reminded us both of our honeymoon in the Bahamas. We decided to attempt a night-time swim although Ryan was hesitant at first, as the pool is located next to the beach and thus the breeze was mighty cold but I persuaded him to go for a night-time swim. We swam for only about half an hour before I told him we should get something to eat. Ever since we had arrived at the hotel I had begun feeling dizzy. As if I'd taken too much cold medicine and was slightly dizzy and light-headed. I weighed the options of staying in but I really wanted to go out since we've been saving lots of money lately by not eating out and only using cash. We decided to walk to a restaurant down the road and as soon as we got there I ordered a glass of water, and ended up drinking 2.5 before I felt better so apparently I was dehydrated!
I ordered the filet mignon medium and Ryan had Ahi Tuna. We had some bread brought out to us early so that kept my stomach from growling throughout the long wait for the entrees. So we waited about an hour total for our food, but were chatting pretty much non-stop that kept me from growing angry with our waiter and or chef's! By 10:00 I told Ryan if there was no food we would leave. It doesn't take 1.5 hours to make a steak - I can do it in about 20 minutes and that's pretty much medium-well in the oven plus a baked potato! So finally right before 10:00 our meal came. I was expecting it to be fabulous because of the wait, however it was completely over-cooked on the outside and hard as a rock. But I ate it with gusto because I was so hungry. Ryan convinced me to try his Ahi Tuna because it was pretty close to sushi, by far the closets we've ever gotten to it. It was like an awful warm-tepid temperate that made me almost gag! I think if it had been either cold or hot I might have liked it but Ryan was completely taken away. After that he wanted coffee and I wanted dessert. The waiter ran through the deserts and I chose the coconut creme brulee and Ry and a cappuccino with cream. He brought out Ryan's drink and he made a nice little heart for me... (collective aww would be appropriate here!)
And then I received my dessert:
Now what I'm still confused with is why I was served a creme brulee on a plate with lettuce and what appeared and slightly tasted like paprika. This mess was also all over our entree dishes. We tasted it and Ry was certain it had to be cinnamon but alas, it wasn't. And lettuce, I mean really?!
