LJ, I have not forsaken thee…

I’ve been reading back over old entries today and it’s been quite amusing. There are so many funny and sweet things I’ve forgotten all about. For that reason, I decided to keep up the blogging. Random odds and ends…

♥ This weekend in Dallas was epic. I love love love my friends up there. I think I was around 1 straight guy the whole time. We ate in the West Village on Friday and danced the night away VIP style at Ghostbar at the top of the W. I tried to have fun on the outdoor dance floor, but there is something unnerving about dancing on glass 33 stories above the city. Cisco Adler was the guest DJ that night and all I could think of was that picture of his abnormally long balls that circulated the internet a long time ago. Ew. We moved on to a gay bar after that. The guys there were so fun to dance with. We also took in a drag show at the Rose Room, which was entertaining in a weird way. Oh, and I was propositioned for group sex by a random couple that night- that was a first for me. Interesting evening. Saturday was all about shopping and Trav's housewarming party. I so wouldn't mind living in that area someday. His new place is adorable and I was excited to meet all of his friends. I met so many incredibly hot men that night and not a single one was interested in women. What a tragedy for single girls everywhere. Ha.

♥ I finally went to Houston last week and saw the storm damage. It was crazy to see people living in their RVs on the streets. There were fences and trees down everywhere. Some of those things have been there for as long as I can remember and now they are just gone. My parents lost a couple of shingles and a window screen, but were otherwise untouched. Their power was back up 2 days after the storm hit, so they were very blessed throughout this ordeal. I shut myself up in the apartment with all my provisions the night Ike blew in and then nothing happened here. I just stayed up late watching Geraldo get blown over in Galveston.

♥ I’m starting to feel at home in the new place after all of the move-in drama with the former residents last month. It took a while for me to settle in because I was so sad to let go of my precious townhome, but we had to find something short-term. This place will be fine for the next 2 months, though. It's just the two of us this time and it's been wonderful. I just miss my giant closet (I could do a snow angel in the floor). Le sigh.

♥ He’s back in Georgia now, so I’m adjusting to that as well. I hated losing him again, but there were fewer tears this time. I think we know what to expect now, so it’s just a matter of powering through until the next visit. Lord knows we both have enough to keep us busy in the meantime. I know there will be bad days when I want him to rub my back, kiss me and tell me things will be fine, but I'll have to settle for a phone call. I’m trying to schedule a trip sometime in the next 2 weeks. I need a fix!

♥ Mo is enjoying her new freedom to the fullest extent and insists that I share in her emancipation. She’s trying to make up for 7 years of lost single time. It’s like a totally different person, but I’m proud of her for being honest about what she wants. She just wasn’t ready to settle down with the only guy she’s ever dated. I’m doing my best to keep up with her, but I’ve found I’m becoming quite the old fart. I’m not up for several back-to-back nights of bar hopping anymore. I find myself getting excited about a shower, a glass of wine and watching Pride and Prejudice before I doze off at some embarrassing hour. I hear underclassmen partying it up outside and I want to yell, “Go to bed!” out the window. I might as well be wearing curlers, a mud mask and a house coat a la Gladys Kravitz.

♥ I’m so excited to have my favorite TV shows back. I bought season four of The Office and had a catch up marathon before the premiere (which was fantastical!).

♥ I’m leaning toward not voting this year. I know, I know…I should be stoned to death. I was totally getting behind Obama for a while, but now I’m not crazy about either candidate. Both of them irritate me in some fashion.

♥ I am in love with the Pirate setting on Facebook. Every day, I see something new that makes me chuckle. “Ye be havin’ matey claims!”
