The curator of the great collage

I have ~$110 in Target gift cards. It's time to go shopping for college stuff.

I applied a backpacking program for Sept. 8-16, so there's a good chance that I'll fly out to Chicago a week before my parents... And since the program can't store more than a backpack or two of stuff, my parents will be bringing the rest of my luggage when they fly in on the 15th or 16th. So, I feel like I should do college shopping in Evanston instead so my parents aren't annoyed to hell with all the stuff they've got to bring. My mom keeps encouraging me to buy everything here (less tax), but I think she'll be slightly less happy about it when she has to lug all my crap to Chicago.

My mom keeps trying to talk me out of backpacking 'cause lately my health has been a little off lately. She thinks I'll become deathly ill when school starts and not be able to keep up with my peers. Haha.
The only thing I'm worried about is how I'll get to campus. I can't fly in on the 7th because I'll have to stay in a hotel for the night, and I'm too young to check in at one. So I have to fly in early on the 8th and rush to campus to register on time. The problem is, I have SkyMiles with Delta, and the Delta flights to Chicago leave in the late morning and land in Chi-town in the afternoon...I wouldn't make it on time. I found an AA flight that departs from SLC at around 7 am and arrives in Chicago before noon, but the ticket is expensive, and I'd still have to hurry to get to campus on time. It takes approx 40 minutes by car from O'Hare, but the taxi fare is ~$50. ICK. It's a lot cheaper by subway, but I have to switch lines 4 times, and walk short distances between some of the connections...which will undoubtedly lead to me getting lost. COMPLICATIONS! Anyway. Yeah.

Okay...I just left the computer for half an hour, and now I'm back to finish this post. Zane keeps calling me to express his utter happiness at being outside the state of Utah. His peers at RSI are smarter than him, and he loves it. And he loves MIT. Aww, Zane. <3 My favorite de facto sibling!

I'm going to get the mail now. Peace.
