Leaving A-town

Feb 08, 2010 17:50

You know, I leave Adelaide tomorrow and it still hasn't sunk in that this is the last day. Sitting here staring at the empty space in my old room where all my crap was (never realised how big it actually is...), and nope. Nothing. Anyway! So I drive over tomorrow with mother dearest (oh dear god...), get the keys and move all my stuff in on Wednesday, then Mum leaves on Friday and that's it. Over and out. Uni doesn't start till March 1st so I've got some time to acquaint myself with my new home town, find a job and most importantly, testing out the local pubs, sussing out the nearest Noodle Box and going for another raid of IKEA.

Work goes like this - I decided to quit Coles, so handed in my resignation the other day. The next day, the Store Manager comes up to me and asks if I wanted to transfer and said that they can keep me on file for another three months to make things a bit easier. Nice gesture, but it doesn't end there! Day after that, he comes up to me again, and actually went to the trouble of writing me a nice referral letter to hand in to other stores I might want to transfer to! I was a little flattered to be honest. Perhaps Coles do value me after all...? (said Store Manager even stood up for me when I had a bit of a run in with Coles HQ)  My old store was awesome though. Everybody was so nice, and while there were the few odd ones, all in all I'm gonna miss everybody there!  Been at Coles for just over four years so I almost got a bit teary when I clocked out for the final time on Sunday night.

Saturday night - my farewell drinks! Only a few of my friends came but I still had a blast - out till 4.30am and even managed to have a brief hook-up with some semi-cute random. Mission accomplished. ;)

Already got my flights booked back to Adelaide - no way known I'm missing the Clipsal 500! My parents jokingly said they'd be using the tickets and there wouldn't be a spare one for me. I not-so-jokingly told them that such an action would result in the immediate termination of all forms of technical support. Yes. I play dirty.

Out for tea at the best Thai restaurant in Adelaide tonight (in my opinion. Totally important). Think I'll crash early though...still feeling it from the lack of sleep on Saturday!

See you dudes on the other side! =D
