(no subject)
So... Starting the move tomorrow.
Yeah, news to everyone here, probably. Mostly. A couple months ago, there was a HUGE downpour that flooded quite a bit of the city for a day or two. There were people canoeing down the main streets around town. Our house ended up getting 3-4 feet of water in the basement. Thankfully, we live in the upstairs apartment so we were fine. But the basement wasn't.
Fast forward a while. To about a month ago. The landlady told us that the damage was so extensive, they might have to raise the house to rebuild the basement. Either that or tear down the house, depending on which would be more cost-effective. Either way, we'd have to move out for a little while. She said we could move back in when all was said and done, however. After that, we hadn't heard anything for a while.
Not quite two weeks ago, Raven told me that she spoke with the landlady, and found out that the city had declared the house 'unsafe' and that we weren't technically supposed to be living here. Because none of us KNEW about it though, they gave us two weeks to vacate. They still haven't really heard from anyone about what's going to happen, but we have until the 9th, which is Friday. So Ben and I have found a place, and tomorrow we're getting our keys and are able to start moving. Everything the past couple weeks has been so hectic. And now we're having to pack all of our stuff on a couple days notice. It'll be nice though, cause I'll finally be away from the dogs and such, and it's a REALLY nice apartment.
Of course, I'll post pictures once I get a chance. I haven't actually taken any yet. I could do that tomorrow, though.
As a sidenote, does anyone around here have a vehicle that could help us out a bit with moving boxes and such? We have a couch and a futon to move too, so a truck would be cool, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
