I bought the AA Bondy album earlier, the guy is an absolute sweetheart with lyrics. A little bit like Dylan mixed with Ryan Adams, but with a southern sting in there. Absolutely love it, incredible to sing along to and digest. I was up my maw n' pa's earlier, and got in a really long conversation with my dad about music. He noted that it seemed like my taste was developing and evolving a little, not that he ever slated stuff that I listened to. I think I just find more solace in dry lyrics about things I can relate to like adolescence, the satisfying demands of working class life, and the fun of going home turning off the lights and listening to music at night. In a lot of ways the kid who listened to Lostprophets, Blink 182, and New Found Glory is still very much at the forefront of everything I do. It's just now, there is a scope for something different, for when I feel like a different journey. I'd be lying if I said I still listen to a lot of pop punk, but it would also be incredibly pretentious if I said I just sit around and listen to stuff from the 80s all the time.

I think my taste meets somewhere in between now. I think I see a lot of myself in the likes of Elvis Perkins, AA Bondy, Jesse Lacey, Matthew Ryan, Neil Young and the Boss. The sheer desperation they tangle about with in their lyrics, and the intent they get across without ever sounding like they are shallowing away from something or painting metaphors over something more real.
