Random thoughts:
Are Rangers really trying to hand us the SPL title, after us doing our utmost to give them it over the festive period? Reason I ask is, well lets compare the signings made this month:
Okay, lets start with the current team on top of the league:
Neil Alexander: This guy is past it, considered a Scotland international despite the fact he has always been third choice at most. This signing hardly makes me quiver with fear...Verdict: Thumbs down
Christian Dailly? Oh c'mon I was pissing myself when he originally turned them down! You just received 9 fucking million and this is the best you can do? Someone who past it 4 years ago when caught swearing during a Berti Vogts press conference! Hahaha, combine the ages here and its over 50! Although in Daillys defence he is experience and I'm sure Walter probably reckons it is experience that will get him over the finish line. Time will tell? Verdict: Thumbs down.
Steven Davis: This is the one Rangers signing I am actually impressed with. A decent Premiership capture, but to be honest if I was a Rangers fan questions would still be asked as to why they werent trying to canvass players of a higher quality. Kevin Thomson is out indefinately and Ferguson really needs a partner in the engine room, with Hemdani playing defensive mid and Adam stuck on the left still only producing marginal pieces of magic. Verdict: Thumbs in the middle.
Then we have Celtic, now keep in mind I was hugely sceptical of Strachans confidence to go out and sign players, but he has done a fair amount to reassure me over the transfer window:
Giorgios Samaras: Now this guy had a decent start at Man City, but then injury mixed with a fault of form and of course change of manager caused his form to fluxate and lose confidence. But the hounding he has taken from the media is undeserved in my opinion, the lad is 22 years old and could easily hit form again given the right guidance. A loan signing suits, because it may make him play out his skin. Otherwise he can bog off. Verdict: Thumbs in the middle.
Koki Mizuno: This young man is an absolute steal in my opinion, at his age his worth will surely rise. But ability wise he has pace, and an eye for dead ball situations. This is the signing, which excited me most. I just hope the Celtic fans who I refer to as 'sharks' at the game give the boy time to adjust to the SPL, they tend to get on McGeadys back way too often if they can provide then our midfield will benefit Verdict: Thumbs up
Andy Hinkel: The player brought to solve the injury crisis at right back, and what happens? Injured already! To be fair he does have decent European pedigree. I would like to see how he does with a run in the team. Verdict: Thumbs in the middle.
Ben Hutchinson: Steal from Boro, apparently this boy has a huge future in the game and the fact Boro didnt want to lose him strengthens that case. Placed in the same boat as Mizuno, give him time and im sure we'll see the best of him. Verdict: Thumbs up
Barry Robson: Great engine, advancing years. Reminds me of Phil O'Donnell(R.I.P)when he signed for us. He was hardly the biggest name, but he had the heart. I believe despite his advancing years that this is another good signing, made all the sweeter by the fact we got him under the nose of Rangers. Lets see. Hopefully if nothing else it will make Donati and Brown raise their game as their position is no longer a formality. Verdict: Thumbs up.
So there you have it, thanks Walter.
In other news: who is catty bound tomorrow?
