A driver on a cell phone cut us off tonight as she failed to come to a complete halt at a stop sign. I'm so tired of dumb drivers. I opened my window and yelled "stop talking on the phone and drive". She was evidently startled by my remark, paused and gathered all her little brain power to reply "fuck you bitch ( Read more... )

Driving. Hmmm. Yeah. I am a hyopcrite I guess.

I just always wish I was the only car on the road. I go into this hyper-focus when I drive a lot, looking ahead to see where the gaps are, driving fast around people. I get fairly bothered on one lane highways when I get stuck behind other cars. I hate when people drive slow in the left lane on multi-lane highways. I pretty much just drive as fast as I feel comfortable driving, and keep a look out for cops. I haven't been stopped for speeding in over 3 years, and only 4 times in my life. I reckon some people might think I'm a bad driver, but I'm really not. I just know my car well, and I wail in it. There are a lot of stop signs around my home that I don't stop at, but this is because I'm so used to driving around here, and I can see from a long way back if any pedestrians or cars are coming, which, rarely they are. Also, a lot of these stop signs are new, and are just there to help traffic flow during highschool dismissal hours. I wish they had the rotation devices to turn the stop signs off the rest of the time. That's what Webster University has. So yeah, sometimes I'll see some housewife watering her garden as I go through a stop sign, and she'll give me some "what the hell?" hand gesture of some sort, but ok. The few times someone has gestured to me when I did something wrong behind the wheel, I'm usually already aware that I fucked up, and so I just simply nod or something. Sometimes other people's stupid moves on the roads just beckon me to comment, honk, yell or flash my brights at them. I always wish I had a set of signs, or a dry erase board to tell other drivers messages. Stuff like "don't go fucking 55 in the left lane" and "don't ride 5 feet from my bumper when I'm doing 90mph." Recently I've been thinking about putting a sign in my back window that says something like "drive right, pass left." You'd be surprised at how many dolts missed that lesson when they learned to drive. Drives me nuts. I'm a lead-foot like I said.

But yeah, you were totally in the right to comment to the other driver, and even if all she said was fuck you, the message probably hit home a little bit... that she was driving poorly and someone noticed... even if she responded in an insulting manner, this was probably just a knee-jerk reaction to having felt attacked. I doubt she just didn't take your point at all.

Don't feel bad about being insulted. Sticks and stones...

I hate those who drive slowly on the left lane too. I thought about creating a few carboard signs that I would leave in the car, like "blinkers are useful", or "turn lanes are meant to be used"... stuff like that.

Thanks for making me feel better.
