After picturing my dream house, I of course had to think about the horses I would put in my dream barn. I learned of a government program that adopts out Mustang horses. They capture a certain number of wild horses in order to keep their population down. You can buy an untrained horse for about $200 (not for me), or one that was trained through a prison inmate government program for about $1000 (more for me). Let me point out that this is a dream, and in no way am I thinking of doing this in the near future., and maybe never at all. I certainly don't have the experience or the money to take good care of a horse at this point, although I wish someday I will. But it'd be great to purchase such a wonderful horse while at the same time contributing to inmates' reinsertion. Here are the details of the adoption requirements.
