I bought the new Olay Quench moisturizer and noticed that my legs are sparkly after I apply it. What the...? They put glitter in that or something. This is not what I paid for! How does glitter help my legs to feel less dry? Fortunately, you can't notice it unless you look at my legs really closely, but still. I know they're there! Stupid sparkles ( Read more... )

it always freaks me out when birds out-live their owners and they have to leave instructions in their will for their care. that's so crazy! i wish my mom would have bought me a bird before i was born so i could have a lifelong friend ;D

I find it weird too. But at least you may not have to deal with losing your pet. On the other hand, if you get a mean bird, you're stuck with it all your life!

maybe that's what's wrong with those crazy people you see on the street talking to themselves. they had to kill their mean pet bird that drove them crazy all their lives. and now the memories are haunting them.

In that case you just "reintegrate" the bird into its natural habitat.

But don't most of those birds come from the Amazon or something?

There's nothing but open air from my window to the Amazon. He'll find his way.

Don't let poor domesticated bird out in the dangerous wilderness!

Like I said, I wouldn't even get one in the first place!

There's a movie out called The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill or something like that (it's on the "indie" circuit), it's a documentary about this dude who like lives on the streets of San Francisco and has trained all of these parrots (let into the wild after not being wanted, they apparently bred and survived in this one section of San Francisco). I thought it looked really interesting--it apparently is pretty good. I just found the concept of a bunch of essentially "domestic" birds surviving in the "wild" of a city to be very interesting.

Ebert talked about that on his show once.

Bite Off More Than You Can Chew...What Can You Do? jabberwocky June 15 2005, 14:45:32 UTC

Nah, just whip it into submission. It'll be your friend WHETHER IT LIKES IT OR NOT! You'll find that, with some harsh physical coaxing, birds crack that "I'm a bastard" attitude right quick. Animals need to learn their place, and the meaning of "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."
