We're all trapped here, everything we had is gone, breaking the rules gets us brainwashed into something called a drone... Am I missing anything?

Mm.... People that come here are placed into 'families'. The photos in the house should be able to help you figure out what yours looks like. The drones act like everyone has lived here in these families their whole lives.
