My laptop died.

I was late on my second-half of November backup so I may lose my new portfolio, Rupa's web site, my portfolio grant submission site/essay for Academy of Art, countless paintings and text documents, all of the freelance work I just completed for Amazon, etc, etc, etc.

Just in time to totally screw me over. Thanks, HP.

I have no clue what is going on in that avatar you have there, but it looks awesome. Is that a snack in your pantry? ;p

I just have bad luck. I back up way more than most people do, this one just caught me in the middle of a lot of other shit going on with the move and all that. I was backing up after most big projects and often after any painting I liked.

Tell you one thing, I'm using my sketchbook a lot more these days. That fucker never crashes.

a stark reminder to reprioritize the backing up of all our data project that I've put off for over a year and a half. and I assure you my equipment is not nearly as nice or new as yours so my dependability factor grows smaller by the day.

I have to re-prioritize the frequency of my backups. I thought monthly would be ok- I thought wrong.

yeah but you draw daily right? so yeah, a nightly back-up would be perfect. something that only backs-up changed folders and files during off hours.

our porn, music and pictures don't change but on a semi-biweekly basis on average. so while the need is still there, I can see your need being greater. there's a lot of good software out there of you've got a spare box.
