The Short Story:
http://sourblaze.blogspot.com/ There's the new home of my blog.
The Long Story: It took beyond forever to move my blog posts and everyone's comments over there. But I feel it is worth it, because LiveJournal will no longer be getting my business. Period.
The reason why is because when I entered my credit card number into LJ's Permanent Account offer, my card was rejected with a "your information is not correct" message. Apparently my ZIP Code was wrong by 1.
But here's my beef: My card's funds were still withheld, by LJ, for 11 days (yes, eleven days, that is no typo). That's almost two full weeks. My bank card actually even got de-activated at one point because I ran out of money during that time period. I did not appreciate it. The amount LJ withheld was $350, because the price was $175 and it was rejected/withheld twice.
In my job (night auditor at a hotel) I withhold/authorize money all of the time. I know how the process works. The longest any place is supposed to do that is 72 hours, then any unused funds go back to the cardholder. But LJ did it for almost TWO FULL WEEKS, causing me financial hardship and one major headache. Especially during the Christmas Season.
As stated above, I moved all of my posts to my Blogspot. I also moved all of your guys' comments over there WITH BACKLINKING, except for those of you who have Friends-Only journals (Sash, Sparkylisa jerec84 and mickeh are the ones I specifically didn't backlink). But if you have a (usually) public LJ, I kept the backlinks.
I am not going to close this LJ account. Frankly I think most of you guys are all right and I would still like to comment in your friends-only entries.
I am not sure what to do with
fighterscircle. I am thinking about appointing someone to be a "maintainer," which is the LJ equivalent of a private board admin/owner. That way someone else can have it. If anyone is interested let me know.
Also, I plan on adding most of your guys' blogs to my "Other Blogs I Suggest Peeking At" sidebar. I won't include "Friends-Only" journals for obvious reasons, but for those of you who have open or mostly open LJs, let me know if you do not want to be included.
If you want to post comments on my posts, you can. You can post comments on my Blogspot with your LJ. There are two ways:
A) Select "OpenID" and pick LiveJournal from the drop-down menu, then put your username in the field. OpenID will then ask LJ to confirm that it is really you -- make sure you're logged into LJ when you do it.
B) You can also pick Name/URL and put your Username and URL in. It's faster this way, because there won't be a confirmation request sent back to LJ.
So, for a quick rundown:
1) I will not be posting new blogs to LJ.
2) I'm not closing this LJ because I want to still comment in your guys' Friends-Only entries.
3) Any volunteers to take over
fighterscircle?
4) My Blogspot will have most of your guys' LJs linked on the sidebar. If you want to be taken off, feel free to say so in the comments.
5) You can use your LJ to post comments to my Blogspot. Either use the OpenID option (more secure) or the Name/URL function (faster).
