Concerto Review--

Mar 27, 2004 11:57

So yeah. Thursday I proved to the world (okay maybe not) that I am the epitome of badass.

So me and Bethany decide on Wednesday to go to the Something Corporate/YC concert. Me because, well, Soco is my favorite band of all time, Bethie because she had never been to a concert. So then we told Roxanne and she wanted to go, too, so she came along as well. All of my other friends were pussy babies and didn't go.

So we ordered the tickets Wednesday online and made plans and what-not. It turned out Soco was playing before YC, so we would be able to stay for them and then leave since I had to drive home and manage to not get caught, since my mom thought we were at "practice". Plus, I've already seen YC and am seeing them again in June, so whatev.

So we leave after school and drive the hour drive up there. Or, rather, I drive. Traffic was a bitch so we get there at 6. Then we go to Stubb's and meet up with some of my ic friends; they were first in line. It turns out earlier they had met Andrew and Brian of Something Corporate. I am a fool for not leaving earlier.

So bladdy blah, they let us in, and we're friggin against the barricade. There's like 5 feet in between me and the stage, since security people have to catch the crowdsurfers.

So Steriogram starts playing and everything is okay. They were realllly good. Then towards the end everyone starts shoving and our sides are ripping against the barricade. It was the worst suffocating pit I have been in; poor Roxanne's feet weren't touching the ground.

So then it's Something Corporate's turn. The anticipation was killing me. So they came out and started playing Hurricane and omg--most surreal moment ever. I was finally, rebelliously, seeing my favorite band of all time; no band makes me feel the way soco does. And Andrew would come right in front of me and sing and our eyes would meet on occasion. That boy is my idol--oh man the piano, and the lyrics--it's amazing.

So after a few songs Roxanne and Bethie got out, or rather, were "pulled" out. I stayed in for another half hour.

They played "If I Die"!!!!!! And since, like, only 5 of us knew the words since it's unreleased, during one part Andrew looked over at me and saw I was singing and kind of did this head nod thing. Okay yeah wow.

Then after a while it was getting uncomfortable so I had the guy behind me lift me up and one of the security guys pull me out. Twas fun. I got to walk in front of the barricade. Hehe.

So after I got out, I was drenched in my sweat, other people's sweat, and water (they threw it on us). My hair was one big sweat/frizz/knot ball. My face was dripping and I could barely walk since my jeans were stuck on me.

So I find Roxanne and Bethany and they were chatting with Steriogram so we got their autographs and some pictures and chatted with them. I asked one of their guitarists if he liked Something Corporate and he was like, at first I didn't, but after a few shows I did. I was all good answer. Haha they were from New Zealand! They had accents. And after Roxanne and Bethany told one of them our story as to how we lied and drove there, he responded with wicked. <33 We even met their manager, who Bethany told was hott. Haha Bethany and Roxanne were also trying to tell them what colorguard was.

So yeah then Something Corporate played Konstantine, I was kinda sad I wasn't up front, but I listened to it far away. Sigh. Then we left the venue.

Haha so as we were walking down the street behind Stubb's we got to their tour buses, right? And I see the blonde guitarist from Yellowcard walking, literally, 7 feet from us. He looked at me, knowing that I knew who he was, and you could just see his anticipation of me being all hey. But, I chickened out, and wanted to maintain his privacy. So he kept walking and got on his tour bus. Then I told the girls and they were mad.

So then we started our voyage home--all went smoothly. We didn't get caught and aren't going to. So that was our adventure, and there's so much more I could tell you, but it's long enough.

But first, here are two pictures in which Andrew (first one) and Brian (second), both from Soco, are looking into my camera.
