Summary: A concert and a festival, Peaceful Love Rock 2010
Notes: Inspired by when I went to the Peaceful Love Rock Festival, a two day music festival here in Okinawa.
It's the crowd in all their harmonious enjoyment of a good time on a summer night.
Leaned back with their elbows on concrete and grass steps, shaped in a circle, over looking the stage and open pit.
Sweat towels and fans.
Fans cooling ladies faces, fans cooling sleeping babies bodies, limply lying in their mother's arms, their fat legs falling, fans rhythmically cooling the band to the heat of their music, saying too many "u"s, provoking too many "oohs" from me.
The tropical trees over us create an illusion of a cieling, it's knotted roots unregarded create more seats for them to sit on. This stadium which is secret only to those who know where to find the fun of a festival, holds this loud, live music, 400 people, and me.
The leaves drop the occasional residual rain from last hour's downfall.
The air holds lantern lights, stage lights, and cigarette butt lights.
Each Okinawan's face a different color
All of it mating noiselessly with the smell of yakitori in cups and soba in plastic containers.
As the taiko drums beat as loud as my heartbeat, I want to say to my friend; "don't touch me while the music is touching me, it might get jealous and leave."
