I had my day-long orientation at UMD today. What a drag the entire day has been - from waking at 6:45 to trying to catch classes that are harder to hold onto than greased monkeys .... it was aweful. One of the most disappointing things I've discovered in moving away from San Francisco is the pervasiveness of flip-flops as footwear.
I take some solace in that Chicago has a low occurrence of Crocs and Uggs wearers.

I first got to Chicago when it was snowing. Once summer arrived so did the flip flops. I thought it was just an LA thing to wear them, but turns out it's just a San Francisco thing not to wear them.

Ugh, Crocs. They are everywhere here. Uggs, not so much, as they're going out of style on the coasts. I hear lot of midwesterners wear them, though.

Except for a few lesbians wearing Crocs, San Francisco is basically exempt from flip flops, Crocs, and Uggs. You can find them in the suburbs and in LA though.

As far as Midwesterners, I never see Crocs or Uggs, but I do see a great deal of people in flip flops - in public!

Ohhh and I've seen people wear pajama bottoms out in public again. What the hell? I thought that was over.
I used to have nightmares about being out in public with pajamas.

What about those shirts with prints of guns and grenades on them? Yikes!

Why would anyone do that? I just don't understand.

Not like I'm a fashion addict, but I think I at least understand and respect the concept.
