You know how some days you'd just like to hit something? Yeah, that's today. I mean, not all of it's been bad (I'm now a beta-reader for Checkmated and this is way amusing me) but on the other hand people sometimes make me want to become a hermit. Urgh. Quite often it's not even the big things, like rape and murder, that make me feel like that, but the small things - tiny little comments, the random banality of human nastiness. Things like the fact that Iraqi civilians dying leads to headlines like 'Baghdad In Our Sights' and yet when it's the other side that's dying, that's front page news.
Just... I'm amazed that so many people can manage to do so little thinking, how oblivious they are to the world and the damage they're doing. Gah.
Anyway. Off to do a politics essay for tomorrow, which should distract, at least. (Apparently having shitloads of work is good for something.) I'm really not that depressed and whingy today, I think LJ just brings it out. I was quite chirpy earlier, honest! :)
