...in that I am really, really impressed with how they've dealt with this season!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THAT. Like, if they were going to do the Dramatic Death thing, this is EXACTLY what I wanted from the aftermath. Let me ennumerate it:
1. ALICIA AND DIANE TALKING
2. ALICIA AND DIANE TALKING MERGERS
3. DIANE BEING LIKE, WELL, WHY THE HELL NOT? THE POLITICS OF THE FIRM ARE AGAINST ME RIGHT NOW
4. ACTUAL SHENANIGATING ABOUT THAT INCLUDING KALINDA BEING HELPFUL
5. PETER AND ALICIA ACTUALLY HAVING THE FIGHT THEY SHOULD HAVE PROBABLY HAD A LONG TIME AGO NOW
6. KICKING OUT AWFUL FAKE-IRISH GUY
7. DAVID LEE BRINGING ON THE MERGER GOODNESS HIMSELF!
8. ALICIA'S BADASSERY IN THE COURTROOM AND THAT ACTUALLY BEING RELEVANT
They actually tied all the storylines in together, and I am so pleased with that I cannot tell you. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! MERGERS! I want the Lockhart Gardener/Florrick Agos merger to happen so much. This is a power narrative - a female power narrative - and there's SO MUCH potential for interesting stuff about that now. Eee.
And omg, omg, Peter Florrick got SMACKED. DOWN. Dude, this has been coming for a while because I always thought you never really got how bad your behaviour was for your wife, but she kept trying to tell you. And now she has TOLD YOU. Oh man. Peter wasn't expecting that at all, because he is kind of incapable of not making it about him, even though I do think he genuinely cares for Alicia. I think his comment that they're all they have was about the way that he thinks they're the same, that she thinks of things the way he does now, and she was so quick to be like, no.
Also, Alicia leaving the courtroom and having inappropriately sparkly person in front of her was so absolutely perfectly a reflection of my own experience of grief that I gaped. Fantastic.
Oh, and I haven't seen Mad Men yet but I hope to soon! I am concerned at this thing where Life keeps happening. :P
