Apparently it is the rule that I do ridiculous fannish things before moving house. This time it was going to the midnight showing of the last Harry Potter movie. *g*
I really enjoyed it! In the same way I've enjoyed most of the movies: I think they're pretty fundamentally flawed in a bunch of ways, as movies, but as representations of a beloved book series they're not too bad. The main three actors are getting better and better - and there was a preview for Dan Radcliffe's new ghost movie which made me go 'omg seriously that's the same little kid who was in Philosopher's Stone!' - and they make it fun even when some of it is ridiculous.
My favourite bit was Helena Bonham Carter being Hermione, which was perfect and hilarious and made me clap. There was also actual cheering for Molly Weasley kicking her ass, but me and
kathleenalice were the only ones who cheered for Neville! Neville was awesome.
I can see why they changed the Elder Wand thing - it simplifies and while I think the book makes more sense, it sort of works. I am sad the Ron and Hermione get-together was changed, cause I love the way it happens in canon, though. I'm glad we saw Ron remember things and do well, but I love that they get together over House Elf rights!
I also kind of wish the ultimate showdown hadn't been made quite as boom-splashy, but ah well, that was pretty much inevitable. And I actually laughed my way through the epilogue bit, which I wasn't expecting to but oh my god the facial hair and outfits.
All in all it was fun, but seriously bizarre that that's it then. o_O
And now I must run cause I *smug smug smug* get to go and see
catwalksalone for the weekend *smug smug smug*. :)
