... in which it's never over

I totally knew the Ice Truck Killer was a relation! Ok, so I thought he was probably Dexter's younger brother, because of how he'd fanboyed Dexter, but it was a relative and even though that became kind of glaringly obvious I am still chuffed about this and even more because they made it work. He had to CHOOSE HIS FAMILY! And he did - and he chose DEB and he CRIED and awwwww. I should maybe not be feeling this sympathetic towards a serial killer but I have looooooooooove. Aw, Dexter, you maybe kind of do deserve the happy parade of YAY DEXTER that you imagined at the end.

And I am especially glad that they care so much about the psychology on this show, because ok, maybe it's a little on the side of story rather than fact, but they try and oh god they're so much better at it than the people writing CSI. The people on CSI are all right at characters when they're the good guys - have somebody who killed his family and suddenly they sometimes forget that that guy's motives aren't just 'he is CRAZAAAAY!' or 'he's a BAD MAN!' - like, even when they try, as with the miniature killer, it just falls down flat. The miniature killer is way scarier before you learn about them, because their 'reason' is... ok, kind of creepy, but also mostly crap, psychologically speaking. People don't just go from that to being a serial killer. Whereas Dexter had all sorts of steps that led to him using killing as an outlet and ok, that's easier to do when he's the main character, but I love it this much.

And the whole Holmes-Moriarty thing was done really well and Brian wanted to bond and Dexter was all 'I shall defeat you with your OWN PROSTHETICS!' and it was awesome. And while I am very glad they've got another season, I love how well it pulled the strings together. Dexter did get rid of Paul: but didn't kill him. Dexter did defeat the bad guy and find out about his family and how he was born and all that. Deb found out she was wrong to fall for a psychopath but that her brother loves her. Doakes did find out that he was right to be iffy about Dexter, but didn't find out why. Oh, the awesome.

Now I can't wait til the new season, woe. (I am maybe downloading the first two leaked episodes ahem.) And I kind of want to read the books - has anyone else tried them?

This just came to my attention and I felt it should be shared: Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie on Wogan, part one and part two. They are terribly young and cute and do one of the best - most skillfully and gloriously executed, funniest, just best - magic tricks I've ever seen. It is HAPPY in a JAR.

I would add this awesome news about the I Am America (And So Can You!) audiobook to that, but then 1. the jar of happy would explode and 2. I'd have to admit that every so often I go back and look at that page and glee. Cause I'm cool.
