... in which I carved her name (Debbie) on a little wooden fork

Anyone who knows where the title of this entry came from gets a Tim Tam, because I did the Tim Tam Slam (explained in song form here, if you don't know what that is) for the first time today and it was amazing and wonderful and lovely.

See, the thing I don't get is why British people don't do this. We have Tim Tams, or at least Penguin biscuits which are the same thing. We have hot chocolate. So why did nobody ever realise that drinking the hot chocolate through the biscuit leads to wondrous chocolatey melty gorgeousness? Whhyyyyyy? I feel so deprived. And also rather sad for having spent two whole paragraphs on my biscuit eating experience. Heh.

Other stuff worthy of note:

I saw Lost for the first time, and thanks to having lots of things explained beforehand was able to actually follow what was going on... which, it turned out, didn't make much difference, because the show is ON CRACK. In a good way, and I reaaaally want to see more and also catch up on the stuff I have missed, but seriously, I feel like donning a grass skirt and running around shrieking "please, resolve SOMETHING, anything! Please!"

I saw Arsenic and Old Lace for the first time, and was not driven to do anything but roll around giggling. This, needless to state, is a good thing.

The Firefly comic cover art we've got is so very shiny. So very, very shiny indeed. I am totally looking forward to a comics version. It makes me think Wil Wheaton is right about a new era of geekiness: there is no reason why comics versions should be shit, why we can't take old ideas and do as many awe-inspiring things to them as we can think of. Hell yes. Plus, the original series of my lovely space western is going to be repeated on the Sci Fi Channel!

There's also been a whole lot of politicaly stuff worth geeking about. These pictures of the recent British general election still amuse me (I love the Guardian's subtley snarky way of titling the photos, hee), but more importantly, the Canadian government was nearly brought down by an ovary but then wasn't. It's some of the best political drama I've ever seen, and I really don't get why the hell the only story about Canada I've been able to find in British papers is this one about how the Queen got rained on. Honestly, they're missing out. :)
