Ready for an uber-long entry? So much has gone on in the past week... picture post from CCC '05 coming soon...

Sunday
i realized that i gave everyone the wrong address... instead of camp loy white we were going to camp mccall. so if you mailed me anything, i didnt get it. the camp was pretty nice, all of our girls from elon and the girls from palmyra stayed in the loft with (gasp) four walls! we didnt really get along with the other youth groups too well on the first day... like that night i was threatened to get fed to wolves by the pyromaniac bunking next to me and i'm surprised there wasnt a full out cat fight. we got our CMG's that day too and i wasnt to happy with them either. my group included tarry (my pastor) two seemingly prissy and ditzy girls (lindsey and morgan) and two country guys (jacob and elam) and myself. this is also the day i realize i left my tennis shoes (which were mandatory for job sites) and all my toiletries... not a great start

Monday
we painted a lady's ceiling and cleaned up around her porch. the job took about two hours longer than it should have and we didnt have enough supplies and my CMG didnt have much in common. we were late back to dinner and the camp was out of water... which meant no showers. instead, we went to a beautiful waterfall on the camp's grounds and washed in it. it was amazingly beautiful and i just loved being up there.

Tuesday
we started a wheelchair ramp for our 2 day project and our group started to really bond together. we found some swimming chickens (maybe they're 1/2 chicken and 1/2 duck... like a dicken or a chuck) in mr. bailey's neighbor's yard. on the way back to camp we got lost and started driving in circles for two hours. we stopped @ a peach stand to ask for directions back to hwy 221 and terry bought peaches! we all took a bite of the "magic peach" that would lead us back to camp... then we named the peach pit JAMLET, after our CMG members

Wednesday
finished the ramp and met the lady who taught the chickens to swim and lindsey eats an ant as a dare.

Thursday
erin (our fill in leader) wrecks the van on the way to a work site. we ran into a guardrail. we painted a porch for this sweet old lady named ms. nellie. i thought the porch looked fine, so i took it upon myself to saw up a fallen oak limb in her yard that was as big around as your average tree. 3 hours later, i'm still sawing at it, so elam takes over and gets it done in 20 minutes... go figure.

Friday
campfire and worship were amazing... i was sitting there @ the worship area and i just felt so happy i thought i was going to burst. i hadnt taken a real shower (like one in an actual shower, not a waterfall) in a week, i hadnt watched TV or been on AIM for seven days (which are things i thought i couldnt live without) and the people i was surrounded by, i had only known for one week - they might as well have been considered strangers, yet i felt so close to the people there. it wasnt until worship that night when i realized what this past week has done for me. to take a step back and simplify your life makes it so much easier to connect with God and really feel His presence without the other "clutter" back home to distract you. working for the people during the day made me so appreciative of what i have. it made me realize that i was wrapped up in my image and basically being a selfish and materialistic, and thats not what really mattered. i also received another fish hook, which was like getting a second chance. i lost last year's hook around september or october and about that time i forgot about the mountain top experience and the spiritual high that i found at elk shoals last summer.

anyways... sorry that was so massive.

God Bless,
Analisa
