So, Checkers and I felt we were getting a tad disorganized with our discussions of TaT and overwhelming ourselves, so here's a little order in the chaos. Below are all current Sounis spoiler-y threads for discussing TaT. I will add new ones as we go along. Feel free to start your own thread. Just remember to hide spoilers under an

2. I have NO idea how to create a "cut" - so I am posting in a comment section...
3. I just finished reading TaT - wow!
Now...on to business:
I have read many of the comments on the book so far, but have not seen anyone mention the following items - and I'd like your opinions and thoughts, please!!!!
1. Irene's child was a girl (not a boy, as supposed by the general Attolian population). I base this on the map on the covers of the book: "This map of Eddis, Attolia, and Sounis was prepared for Her Highness Gitta Kingsdaughter by her tutor Tykus Namikus for her reference while reading the books of Queen's Thief" AND the words of the queen after hearing Kamet's poem: "It was not her time." (p.320)
2. Question: Who is Gen's newest attendant - the "Erondites" on p. 316 that is giving his tutor such a hard time? Remember in KoA that Gen points out to Sejanus that if his father chooses an heir that is NOT is own offspring he will have to have the approval of the King? So, is this the "new" Erondites? Is it Dite? (I find that hard to believe, as Dite is exiled, should be in Ferria, and seems to be too old for a tutor...) Did I miss something else entirely?
3. The map included in the book, but not attached to the covers was created by Kamet (according to the note at the top), but was addressed to a "P" and found in the Royal Archives. Who is this "P" person????

(1) We covered the baby HERE and HERE. Definitely a girl, but I'm not entirely convinced Gitta Kingsdaughter is Gen's and Irene's daughter. We shall see...
(2) Covered HERE and also HERE. I beleive this is a new character and is either a very young teenager or a child. Philo was the king's youngest attendant previously, and this new heir appears even younger. He could be a cousin or a illegitimate half-brother of Sajanus and Dite or not related to them at all.
(3) Also, covered in the above links. I'm certain "P" and the young Eurondite are one in the same. Freenarnian suggested Kamet may be calling him Pigeon as a nickname. Considering he was focused on so much towards the end of the book, I'm guessing he will somehow play into the next installment?

When you don't name your characters, Megan, we will and you'll have to live with our decisions. XD Just like the MoW will forever be Bob Kickabootus A. Loof.

That said, I like the idea of it being Kamet's nickname for him. :)

I do think Gen picked Pigeon because he saw a little of himself in the boy. Cunning and deviousness, if nothing else. I'm really curious to learn his origins - whether he is a relative of Dite and Sejanus, or whether he's someone entirely unrelated. Since Gen was so adamantly against the house of Erondites ("raze your patrimony and salt its earth"), I'm dubious that Pigeon is a half-brother or even a cousin, but if he was put forward as an heir candidate and Gen liked what he saw, then he might have been selected anyway.

By the by: IRL, I owe my last name to the fact that a dude married my great-whatever grandmother and took HER name, because she owned land (under her name) and he did not.
