i arrived in florence with so much anticipation. i thought it would be the most beautiful place i had ever seen. i knew it was going to be the experience of a lifetime. after five days, i have realized that i never knew what beauty really was.
no words, or even photos, could illustrate the city. even in all it's wonder, it is still very quaint. i walk by the Duomo everyday on my way to class, the faces of the people are filled with history, and the streets are narrow and made of cobblestone that is older than the country i live in. it's ridiculous.
although i have been very frustrated with my current health condition (aka limp), i have been able to enjoy my time here so far. i do get homesick occasionally, but i have a feeling that when this all comes to an end, i won't want to leave.
my roommates are fantastic, they remind me of my roommates from home and i feel very comfortable with them. we live in an apartment on the top floor. 59 fucking steps. it's harsh, especially when my feet hurt so bad. but it's a very nice place.
so far, the only new cuisine i have tried is liver (i am not sure of what animal) and rabbit... yeah i know. but they are both very delicious.
we have a one week break at the end of october. my roommates and i have been discussing what places we would like to visit. scotland, ireland, france and spain are at the top of our list. greece, austria and switzerland are possible weekend trips.
on my list for the next month is to try absinthe (which all my roommates tried, while i was bedridden), go to munich for octoberfest, travel to fiesole and cinque terre, take more photos, and fucking WALK LIKE A NORMAL PERSON again. i think that is a good list of goals.
soon, after i am able to go out more often and take more photos, i will create a photobucket or snapfish website. i'll post the web address on here, in case anyone cares.
ciao bellas! i miss you all.
