I Killed My Car

Cameron: What'd I do?
Ferris: You killed the car.

It was a long weekend, and I'll start at the end. Monday, while driving to work on I-40, my little Honda Civic spotted a brand new, really nice looking Honda Pilot SUV and got a little horny. Now, normally my car exhibits quite a bit of restraint and self control, but this was one sweet looking vehicle. It just couldn't resist. It tried to mate with the SUV right there in the middle of the interstate.
Thankfully, the police report mentions nothing of my car's embarrassing lewd behavior. It simply states that it was raining heavily, and the SUV in front of me braked suddenly due to another accident further up the road. I slammed on the brakes, but my tires locked up and slid in the rain. The collision really wasn't that bad since the SUV was still moving. My airbag didn't even deploy and I barely felt the sealtbelt catch. No scratches or bruises whatsoever. But my car is not happy:

It's probably totalled. That's a lot of damage to repair, and my car has 215,000 miles on it. It's 10 years old. I don't have collision insurance anyway, only liability. So I started looking for another car.
I called Brodie and Rob out at Saturn to check out their used inventory (Brodie started working there last week). Turns out that Rob and Jill were just about to trade in their '96 Civic for a brand new Saturn SUV. What great timing. So, I'm going to buy Jill's Civic from them for the same price they were going to get on the trade-in. Thanks JillyBean! You rawk!
It's sad to see my old hatchback go though. It was an great car. A bit oversexed apparently, but great nonetheless.

The 48 Hour Film Project was this past weekend too. I'll write about that later since I'm really hungry right now and I've got stuff to do. The Cure show is tonight. Aww yeah.
