[Daniel had been walking back to the library, when he saw the Master lying in a bed. He had ran back to his room, made a half-assed get well card with a sharpie and a piece of paper, then ran back to the infirmary. He didn't care if the Master still thought that he was like the Doctor. They were friends once...maybe. They can be friends again.]

Hey there! [He said, a slight smile on his face. He placed the get well card on the table by the Master's bed and-oh. He was restrained.]

How are you feeling?

[He looks up, glaring initially, then allowing his expression to soften to a pleasant smile. While he had been a bit spastic and vicious to Daniel before, that was still when the shock of his newfound humanity (not to mention the Dalek incident) was still fresh. Now that he'd had some time to adjust... it was back to attempting charm (although, to be honest, he was still shaken and not as smooth as he normally aimed to be)]

Miserable, actually! I nearly died, after all. How are you?

[Daniel bit his lip, looking at the Master. How was he feeling? What a great question. There was the Dalek attack, something happened with the Master, he got hurt and now Daniel was asking how he felt. What a great friend he was. At the Master's question, Daniel shrugged.]

I'm fine.

I made you a get well card. [He said, looking at the card.] On Earth, you're supposed to bring people flowers when they're sick. I couldn't find any though... [He smiled, a bit sheepishly.] I couldn't find a teddy bear either.

[He glances over at the card. It's not that impressive-- in fact, home made crafts and similar things tended to annoy him, typically.]

I see. [Still forcing a smile] Thank you. I'm sure I'll survive quite happily without flowers or a... bear.

[Daniel smiled in return. Okay, so this could be going ten times worse than it already was. He was fine with the way the conversation was going. Hey, the Master said thank you!]

You're welcome.

[And, now Daniel didn't know what to talk about.] Ah...are you okay? Aside from the whole 'stuck in the hospital' thing. You seemed really freaked out about something earlier, and I just want to know how you're feeling now. Emotionally, not physically.

[soundof_drums]

[He stares at Daniel. Why did the man care so much? Even after all the Master had done, he's still so... nice about everything. The comparison to the Doctor seemed to be apt, indeed. He decides to give Daniel a slightly wounded look] Like my heart's stopped.

[Daniel's face paled as he looked at the Master. There were two options here. Either the Master was being completely serious, or he was just trying to get his goat. Daniel didn't know. And so, he decided to take a very safe route.] I'm sorry that it happened, whatever it was.

[soundof_drums]

[He sighs, then changes his tone so that it sounds like he's talking to a child]

I had two hearts. Now there's only one.

[...oh. Whoops.]

Don't patronize me. [Daniel said, frowning at the Master.] I don't know everything about your species. I'm sorry that you only have one heart now.

[How was that even possible? Did the Admiral do it? How could you take away someone's heart? Daniel was a little bit nervous, but his face didn't show it. Though, it wasn't like this was completely bad.]

Maybe it'll be good. You can see how humans live. It'll be a new experience.

It isn't just the hearts. There's more to our differences than that. [The triple helix, the fact that he had almost complete mastery over his body's needs, the other organ differences...]

I've already done it before, so I'm not sure how rehashing the experience is supposed to be helpful.

[If this were another time, Daniel would have actively pressed the Master for information about the other differences. However, now wasn't the time or the place. He could wait until later, right?]

You could notice something the second time that you missed the first. [Daniel said, raising an eyebrow.] Something that seemed insignificant at the time.

[He rolls his eyes] The only thing I missed the last time was romance. This isn't a melodrama; I sincerely doubt that love is my way out of this predicament.

[Daniel grinned, looking at the Master. Romance? That was...well, it was slightly funny. The Master and romance? Wow.] Oh come on. To quote a good song, 'all you need is love'. Maybe you just need to get a girlfriend.

[He was obviously enjoying this.]

[soundof_drums]

[If he weren't restrained, he'd probably throw something at Daniel. But as it is, he'll have to simply grin and bear it. So, he arches an eyebrow playfully]

Why, Daniel, are you interested?

[exploringdaniel]

[Daniel shook his head.] I've already got a girlfriend back home. [Well...he didn't know what he and Vala were. They were sort of boyfriend and girlfriend but sort of not.]

I'm sorry if I broke your heart. [He said, still grinning.]

Huh.

[He honestly didn't take Daniel for a "have a girlfriend" back home type. He'd just assumed the man lived a life of scholastic celibacy. Then, the Master shrugs]
