Kabuto had his door open - it wasn't a blatant challenge to a certain blonde across the hall, really - while he was studying. He had his tv on and was watching an old, black and white movie. While the giant lizard monster rampaged on the screen, Kabuto took meticulous notes

Said certain blonde from across the hall? So very much into taking the challenge.

And still wearing Kabuto's shirt. Ino was seriously considering not giving it back because it was crazy comfortable and it would bother him at least a little. Both equally valid pros as far as she was concerned.

She knocked once, twice, on his door frame then stepped inside the room. And paused uncertainly. The door had been open, so she knew he was around, but the only other occupant of the room?

A very cute cat.

Huh. She hadn't known Kabuto liked cats.

Kabuto had never really minded cats much, but being a cat? He did mind that. He was currently very determinedly washing, to rid himself of the indignity of being all puffed up. Glancing up at Ino, he gave her a disgusted look and went back to washing.

Was she being snubbed by a cat?

"Where's your master, kitty?" She asked, while snooping walking around the room. Figuring she might as well wait for him - Ino wanted her shirt back - she sat down on the bed. "He'd better come back soon."

Kabuto snorted - well, it came out more like a sniffy "fff!" noise - and stood up. Because he wanted to. Not because she was talking to him. He gave her a very flat look, sitting on the bed beside her and wrapping his fluffy tail around his front paws. "Mrow," he told her.

Aw. So cute.

"You are a cutie aren't you?" Ino told him, one hand reaching out to pet him, "Where'd Kabuto go?"

The flat look didn't disappear. One paw shot out, sharp claws extended, in a 'warning' slash at her hand. So he was cute, was he? He'd show her cute.

Ino gave the cat a flat look of her own, "You're the one sitting next to me," she pointed out, "that means I get petting rights."

The cat was suddenly gone, leaving a very annoyed Kabuto in his place. "...You do not get petting rights," he told her, picking his glasses up from their place next to his notebook and putting them on.

"If a cat's sitting next to me, I do so." Ino argued, not moving one inch from where she was sitting. She paused and glared at him, "I don't want petting rights to you."

Just to make that clear.

"Annnnd do I want to know why you were a cat?"

"The cat was me. So by saying you want to pet the cat..." Kabuto trailed off significantly.

"I think it has something to do with what they mentioned in the announcements this morning," he said with a shrug. "People are turning into animals at random today. This school is bizarre." He paused the DVD, leaving the big lizard in the midst of smashing a building while scared Japanese people scattered.

Ino wasn't blushing. Really. Because that sounded so, so bad.

"I didn't listen to the announcements." Ino said, looking anywhere but at him, "Any reason why people are randomly changing species?"

"It's World Animal Day, or something," Kabuto explained. Getting up, he walked over to his laundry basket and started to dig through it.

"Do I get my shirt back, too, or do you miss me that much?"

Because that explained so much.

Ino plucked at the shirt, "I haven't decided yet, I kinda like it. Very comfortable - and the colour? Perfect." Nearly the same shade of purple as her regular shirts.

"And if my shirt is in with your dirty laundry you'd better wash it before giving it back."

"I seperate my laundry," Kabuto told her. "Shirts in one pile, everything else in another." Her shirt was near the top. Sometimes the OCD was a good thing. "Purple is something of a signature color for Lord Orochimaru," he explained further. "I'm so pleased to hear you like it, too." He only smirked a little bit.

"So what?" She imagined that she looked better in it. Ino rolled her eyes at Kabuto, "Purple means many things and I'm not going to stop wearing it just because of him."

"You were way cuter as a cat."

"You would have enjoyed the two weeks in July," Kabuto told her dryly. "Anyway, there's your shirt." He tossed it to her. "Are you keeping mine, then?" It didn't bother him any if she did.
