Kabuto had spent the past 24 hours in self-imposed exile. Those who knew him prior to his arrival at Fandom would realize that he was exerting a huge amount of restraint, staying there in his room rather than going out and inflicting wonton damage and destruction to everything around ( Read more... )

Ino was... moody. Fun that. And kinda grumpy from her talk with A.J.

Really fun that.

She knocked lightly on his door, wondering if Kabuto would mind her company.

"..." Kabuto's silence spoke volumes, but after a moment, he finally gave a verbal answer. "What."

She blinked at the door, then pushed it open, sticking her head inside. "Bad time?"

"It could have been." Kabuto hands crackled with energy for a moment again. "News from home."

She looked at him. At his hands. "Okay," Ino said slowly, warily, "did you want me to go then, or would you mind a bit of company to sit with you listen to what's wrong?"

"I won't hurt you." Kabuto shifted his position so he was sitting cross-legged, leaving space on the bed if Ino wanted to sit down. "Sasuke-kun happens to be much more important than anything else, of course. But we knew this already." His eyes behind the glasses were cold, but thankfully not bloodshot like the night before.

She shut the door behind her, trusting his word, and went to sit in the space he'd left for her. "Anything I can do to help?"

"Help me kill him?"

...No, actually, Kabuto wasn't kidding.

Ino didn't think he was. She knew him too well for that.

"Wouldn't you rather do it on your own?" she asked, "I'd just be... window dressing in a fight like that."

But she hadn't said no.

"I'd appreciate the accompaniment." Kabuto very much wanted to kill Sasuke. Sasuke needed to die slowly.

Or quickly. Because then he'd be dead that much faster.

"So, because of our dear Sasuke-kun...I am without an assignment until Orochimaru-sama decides he's able to spare the attention to someone else." Not that Kabuto was acting like a jealous child. He was being his usual, possessive self.

"Then I'll come," she said, leaning against the wall, "and I'm sorry you've got nothing to do."

"So am I." Kabuto took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I'll live. Even if I wanted to kill everyone last night." That was more the Kabuto everyone saw; with a smirk curving his lips in an almost arrogant way. "But I didn't."

"You could've. You didn't," she said, reaching out to brush his arm, "I'm glad."

"I figured you might take offense if I killed any of your friends," Kabuto pointed out, taking Ino's hand for a moment and giving it a squeeze.

Considering who was on this floor... yeah. Ino was very very glad he'd restrained himself.

"Just a bit," she said, "you've got that right."

"I am pretty smart." Kabuto let go of her hand. "Though I wouldn't mind some more physical training sometime, if you ever feel like a spar."
