I thought I'd seen the last of this kind of thing. I...

...this first born thing, Asch will be okay, right?I'm not even sure how much to believe though it's hard to just ignore. This is...lame. I'm sick of it ( Read more... )

Because for something to be good enough to substitute for a life... We don't know what will be enough. And not everyone might have something that's enough.

The reason I wanted to give my life before was because there was no other choice that we could think of.

If they're going to give another option I'd rather try that.

There's a fourth one. Let them pay by themselves, instead of blackmailing us into it.

Yeah...that too.

But Siran helped me. So I want to do what I can for her too a-as a friend I guess.

Even if she's upset... It's not fair to ask loads of people to give up their lives, just to save one. Would she be willing to do the same for one of your friends?

And from what they said about gold sacrifices- they made it sound like it would have to be something really fantastic... I think I've got something that'll work, but I'm not sure, not completely.

Even if she wouldn't that doesn't mean I shouldn't try to do what I can. And...she saved my friend's life.

The Complete Key of Lorelei...that might be worth something to them. I don't really know but it's worth a shot.

Because you made a deal with her, I bet. I doubt it was as a favor. Maemi got himself into this mess. Let him pay the price.

Even if you and I can pay... There will be others who won't. They'll have to pay with lives.

Deal or not she didn't have to help me. But she still did. And she hasn't been bad to me.

It's too soon to say that! They're deciding too fast, you can't ask someone to give up their lives overnight like that...it doesn't matter what's at risk a life is a life. Even if it might save a lot of others it doesn't change the fact that someone has to die.

You're right though. People are deciding too fast. We still have time. We just need to wait and see.

It's not like she lost anything though, did she? A deal is a deal, not a favor. Get them straight.

The gods knew for a while what Maemi owed. Ever since Adrastus showed up, probably.

If someone has to die, then why sacrifice a lot of lives just to save one? It's not fair. If Maemi's the one who incurred a debt, then it's only fair he pays it, instead of making everyone else suffer! A lot of us here... Gave up a lot for the sake of our worlds, even before we came here. If someone has to die, it should be the person responsible.

It doesn't matter. Even if I lost something I gained a lot more. I knew what I was getting into and she out of all of them chose to answer me. Even if she doesn't consider me a friend that doesn't mean I can't want to help her.

Even if it's a bluff I want to give something. If it's not a bluff...I don't want to think about it too much though I know I have to.

A life for a life isn't fair either. Nothing's ever fair.

You're right, no one should have to die. That's why everyone should stop going ahead and deciding to die for their world. We don't know anything yet.

A deal's a deal. You don't owe her anything. And you won't be able to pay alone. It would have to be something from every world here. And that's not fair. Not for one life.

More fair than many lives in exchange for one!

Why should anyone have to die at all? It won't bring anyone back.

Because those three are demanding dues. And unless you can get them to stop, someone's going to have to pay. And I'd rather it be the one responsible than anyone else.

And whoever sent them's awfully keen on getting that due.

I don't know about everyone else but I won't let any of my friends pay for anything with their lives.

As long as someone is alive they can keep paying back...once you're dead you're just dead.
