[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Megan Gwynn / Pixie
FANDOM: Marvel 616
CHRONOLOGY: After the "Quest For Magik" story arc. A few weeks after her return from Limbo.
CLASS: Hero. Well, more like a very enthusiastic Hero In Training.
SUPERHERO NAME: Pixie
ALTER EGO: Megan Gwynn. Most likely she’ll be going to school by day, but it will be very hard for anyone to keep her out of hero work, especially if there are X-Men around!
BACKGROUND:
Megan is a small-town Welsh teenager who was brought to the Xavier Institute when she was just thirteen. Her mutant powers, along with her fey-like appearance, manifested themselves when she was riding her bike and nearly got hit by a truck. Her father had been killed in a mining accident when she was very young, her mother was hardly ever around, and it was apparent that a small girl with such an obvious physical mutation wouldn’t last long without a little guidance. At her new school, she was assigned to a squad called the Paragons, and got to integrate herself with other young mutants. Under the guidance of the great heroes like Cyclops, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, et cetera, all of whom she used to fangirl from afar, Pixie learned to control her powers (at first wearing a bike helmet until she got the hang of flying without, you know... crashing).
After M-Day, Meg was one of only twenty-seven students to keep her powers. Many of her old friends, now depowered, are later killed when their departing bus is bombed. It was a hard hit to both students and X-Men alike.
When she was somewhat established at Xaviers, Megan was one of several students to be sucked into Limbo by an evil sorcerer named Belasco. In order to escape, defeat Belasco, and save her friends, she made a deal with a very Darkchild, Illyana Rasputin. The only thing that can hurt Belasco in Limbo is innocence, which happened to be something of which little Meg had an abundance, so Illyana began a process to form a new Soulsword out of part of Megan’s soul. The ritual almost killed her, but was fortunately interrupted by Anole, and only a Souldagger was created. The part of her soul which was lost was then replaced with dark magic, giving her the ability to learn certain spells. She has so far only learned one: teleportation.
Once the students were returned home to the mansion, Doctor Strange later examined her and stated she had “soul to spare,” meaning that she won’t be as negatively affected by the process of losing part of her soul as others (like Illyana) have been in the past, turning them cold and slightly demonic. He also offered to make her a magical apprentice whenever she turned eighteen. Until then, she has continued her studies with the X-Men… provided something unfortunate doesn’t happen like getting sucked into another world to fight crime for Iron Man.
PERSONALITY:
Despite having seen a lot of horrific things for someone her age, Megan is surprisingly upbeat and optimistic. She loves being a mutant, idolizes the X-Men (and a great deal of other Marvel heroes as well), and was even dubbed “Friendliest Student” in the yearbook at Xavier’s Institute.
However, sometimes she can be friendly to a fault. Megan has a serious case of third wheel syndrome. She can’t imagine any occasion to which she would not be welcome, and so invites herself into any room and any conversation. Couples beware, for if the question coming out of Megan’s lips is “Where are you going?” Then the next question will almost immediately be, “Can I come?” She also has a curious streak that borders on intrusive, and can sometimes prattle on and on about inconsequential subjects until someone needs to bluntly ask her to shut up. The truth is that Meg, like so many teenage girls, just wants to know that she is likeable. She absolutely hates being ignored, and equates it to being deemed unimportant, which she cannot accept. Compliments are like crack to this girl.
Since she’s often geared towards flamboyance and excess, those who first meet Megan assume that she is flaky, or too unfocused to actually accomplish a task she doesn’t consider “fun.” However, those who know her better are aware of her serious side, too. Once she sets her mind to it, she can be depended upon to complete anything that is needed of her, whether it is defending her friends in a fight or just saving a spot in line. She’s also a very devoted student, and a brave (if shaky) little warrior when she has to be.
POWER:
Flight: Megan has multicolored, translucent, insect-like wings, similar to a cicada’s. She can fly quickly (though she’s nowhere near as fast as, say, Cannonball) and is very good with sudden stops or sharp turns.
Dust: Pink, glittery dust is released from Megan’s body as a sort of defense mechanism. This dust does not affect her, but anyone else who inhales it suffers from disturbingly cute, and often comical, hallucinations. Megan doesn’t control what they see, nor does she even know what they’re seeing, but so far, par for the course has included teddy bears, fairies, enchanted meadows, unicorns, pink bubbles, et cetera. Sometimes these hallucinations are accompanied by feelings of elatedness and joy, but sometimes they can also be intense and disturbing, like a bad acid trip in a magical land.
Magic: After giving up a little piece of her soul to make a dagger, Meg learned how to perform the spell Sihal Novorum Chinoth, which she can use to teleport small or large distances (sometimes even hundreds of miles). She can also teleport up to ten people at once… possibly more if they’re children or just small people. From the time I’m pulling her from, however, she will still be somewhat new to this power, so it may take some getting used to.
FINAL NOTES ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:
While she's in this world, Pixie is inhibited from summoning her Souldagger.
I didn’t notice a “Character’s Age” spot or a place to write a physical description, so I’ll just say here that she’s 14 when she is brought into the game. Megan’s a scrawny teenage girl who may even look a little young for her age, and she is nothing if not colorful. Her mutation has blessed her with large, black eyes, bright pink hair (now with black streaks in it thanks to losing part of her soul), long pointed ears, and a multicolored set of semi-transparent wings. In addition to the natural riot of color that is her body, she also enjoys dressing in at least three or more colors at a time.
