Books

I guess, that almost everyone knows that I'm a great book-lover. I used to go to bookstores twice a week and always bought something.

Yesterday, I've bought myself a Vintage Classics edition of Iris Murdoch's a fairly honourable defeat. I've already read it on Russian... Yet I like Julius very much. And dislike the book itself XDDD I guess it's just not my type, too feminine writing and extremely odd. Iris Murdoch introduced as a 'distinguished' novelist really catches the atmosphere of the story very accurate but with that the whole story becomes boring and ordinary. I like the details, I dislike all the blahs.
Murdoch portrayed Julius absolutely stunning character, ironical, cynical, straight-minded, extremely clever, he may be tough but there's something morally attractive about him - in her own words. To be honest, she spend a half of the first three chapters to display the character, to open it up - right before Julius makes his appearance before our eyes. Actually, I can speak of him all the time I speak about the entire thing ^___^

And to cast up my impression: the book is quite classical and a little ponderous... but really helps to improve in English!))))
