I got a lot of people on my myspace friends list to sign up so I thought why not try LJ..

A child dies unnecessarily every every 3 seconds

I Support.

The the ONE Campaign is about ending poverty and the spread of AIDS across the world but mainly in Africa.

The LIVE 8 Concert is performing around the world to being awareness to the campaign and to get more and more people to sign up and support their cause.

You dont need to donate money, thats not what ONE is about, it's about your voice. Your voice can do a lot. ONE is trying to get as many people to sign a petition to make President Bush put in his word that ONE is making a good point and to get the richest countries in the world to donate a little more money to help poverty stricken countries.

As you know the G8 Conference is coming up around July 6th.
It's where the 8 richest countries meet up and discuss different things.
They're going to discuss poverty and the ONE campaign and all they have to do is agree to change trade laws and to donate a more money to poor countries.

We can do it. It's not that hard.
I mean DID YOU KNOW:
1) that the amount of money that the US provides to poverty stricken countries dosent even add up to 1%?
2) that the basic price of a sandwich can provide 6 months of cough medicine to anyone who desperately needs it to survive?
3) the average age of prostitution in Africa starts at age 12 and one night is $2.50 and if the girl asks the "customer" to wear a condom she is often beaten and not paid?
4) the basic price of a CD can provide over a child with a year of school including books and clothes?
5) There are over 27 brands of cough medicine in America but not ONE drop will make it to a child who is dying from sickness

that's how poor Africa is. Just ONE percent of US's budget can change that.

I know we're fighing our own wars and other things but if it only takes $12 to provide education to someone, wouldnt you sacrifice $12?
Or if just $4 can provide cough medicine to a woman who needs it to survive, wouldnt you sacrifice $4?

For more go here

It's such a good cause. So many people have joined and so many celebrities are supporting it.

And you dont even need to give money, unless you want to buy a bracelet, all you need to do is sign a document and give your voice.

Now how hard is that?
only your VOICE can change millions of lives.
