So...my idiot friend, in all her glory, decided to say this to me when I told her I was depressed:
why are you always tired!! maybe cuz ur not doing anything
lol
So I have this poem (which is a rough draft and needs editing) to counter my anger at it.
Depression is the monster in your head
Depression is the creature lurking in your bed
Depression looks at your life and shrugs, saying, “Other people have it worse.”
Depression says, “No matter what happens to you, it’s just par for the course.”
Depression keeps you awake at night, afraid to sleep
Depression keeps you tired during the day, unable to think too deep
Depression steals away your concentration, your focus
Depression says, “Oh, everything you are and care about? Just tokens.”
Depression and anxiety go hand in hand, they say
Why worry tomorrow what you can worry about today?
Depression will always be there waiting, lurking in the dark
After all, depression knows exactly where you end and where you start
Depression is not being sad one day or even a week
Depression is the black, black streak
Depression is not “you have nothing to be sad about!”
Depression is “there are too many obstacles for me to count”
Depression is your best friend and your worst enemy
Because depression becomes you and everything else it steals away
