guys, something really horrible has happened.
Someone took Bertha. She was locked up to the railing in my front yard and someone, somehow, has taken her.
So, if you come across a very inexpensive road bike or cruiser, keep me in mind. Because this bike was not only a bike, but a means of transportation and a friend. She was who i went to when i needed to decompress.
The ironic thing is that I couldn't unlock her from my railing. The lock had jammed or something. It was a pretty hardcore lock, too.
I had just spent $80 getting her all fixed up for the summer. This hurts, but I'm trying to stay positive. I'm sure I'll find another bike....it won't be Bertha, but I'm sure I'll form a similar bond with a new bike.
If you see anyone with Bertha, take her! Just push the person off and take her! Please! I would be forever grateful!!!
She's a big Norco Cruiser. She has a basket on the back and a bell. She's painted random colors, but mostly blue. I think she had blue with some black and red random splotches....*sigh* Painted some of her coat myself one night in the backyard of the CUP. She has front and back fenders and one of those spring seats...
She was so good to me. Taking me to places all over Vancouver. Allowing me to realize the beauty of cycling on a comfortable bike. She had 7 gears, so i could go at my own pace and i really appreciate that. I spent so much time with her. More than any bike I've ever had. It was her that took me through Strathcona for the first time. It was also her that took me on long rides with my friends in summer on the seawall and around the city. She carried me through many cool nights in East Van, alone and peaceful. I have scars from when I flew over the handlebars and had to get 6 stitches in my face. My first set of stitches, ever!
You were good for my health and well-being, Bertha!! I really, really miss you and want you back! Please if anyone sees her, grab her! It would mean SO MUCH to me!
Thank you.
