It was Monday morning, the forecast was looking gloomy, and so was Hiyori's mood. She paced barefoot back and forth in front of her large glass window, reading a paper from a sheaf of files. Part of her hoped that it would storm. The sound of thunder had always calmed her, for some reason.

She was pointedly ignoring Shinji today since, for whatever reason, the weekend hadn't mellowed him out and he was still being an ass. She was getting tired of it, too. After all, she'd put a bag of his favorite candy in his desk drawer, along with a very choice and hard to find Nina Simone CD, which she'd been saving for just such an occasion. The unapreciative ingrate. How else was she supposed to apologize? It's not like she could just say "sorry," after all.

Shinji was at his desk, keeping quiet, still irritated with what happened the week earlier. He was trying not to think about it, but every time he had opened his mouth, he had said something rude or uncalled for directed towards Hiyori or that Kurosaki kid. He leaned back in his chair with a breath and looked down at his empty desk. He pulled his right hand drawer open to pull out a pad of paper, when he noticed something he didnt see before. He moved his chair upward and sat up straight, pulling it out. His eyes widened slightly. Reeses Pieces and Nina Simone...? He looked back over towards Hiyori's desk. ...Shit. He set them both ontop of his desk and he walked over. Knocking the door once and walking in, he saw her pacing in her bare feet... and he couldnt help but smile. She was short as it was with heels... without them, she was even tinier. "...Whats the point on spending like what... two hundred dollars on a pair of fenders if you're just gonna walk around in your office without them on?" good way to break the silence... damn, he hoped.

Hiyori tossed her head, turning partially around to glare at Shinji over her shoulder. It would have taken half a second for her to toss back some acidic retort, but she paused. The tone of his voice was different now than it had been earlier. Still sarcastic, yes, but not bitingly so. Could it be he'd found the gifts in his desk? Probably, since he was incredibly mulish and probably have been in here otherwise.

"These shoes are not Fendi," she said haughtily, nodding in the direction of her pumps. "They're Jimmy Choos." And they were way more than two hundred bucks, but she wasn't gonna say that. "Idiot," she added lightly, but her tone said 'I forgive you.'

Shinji shrugged his shoulders, sliding his hands into his pockets. "Well, my forte's always been clothes and mens shoes. You dont see me walkin' 'round in Jimmy Choos, and that aint happening any time soon." He nodded slightly to her, smirking. He made a joke, and not at her expense. His own kind of 'sorry'. "...Look..." He started, feeling like he had to be the bigger man. "About Kurosaki..."

"You wouldn't look good in Jimmy Choos anyway," she said, and she laughed.

Hiyori glanced away. "Nothing happened," she said in an uncharacteristically soft voice. "I was just upset. I wanted to go out." Not that she had to explain herself or anything. She just felt like it.

"Hey, I'd look damn good in Jimmy Choos." He laughed, shaking his head. Shinji kicked at the ground. "Y'know even if something did happen.." He shook his head. He didnt want to go there. "Whatever. This is about me being an ass. I'm over it."

Hiyori decided to drop the subject of her shoes when she imagined Shinji flailing around in a pair of couture stilettos. She actually smiled at the thought, and walked around her desk. "Well, don't do it again, or I'll kick your ass," she said in a joking voice. Having said that, she extended her hand to offer up a few documents to Shinji. "You ready to get back to work?" she asked.

"Yeah." Shinji reached up to take hold of the documents and paused. "I'll let the monkey do her business." He grinned at her and pulled away, taking the documents with him and turning. Inwardly, he wondered why he was so bothered in the first place... and decided it was best that he didnt look too far into it.
