His work for the day was all but done. He had given the reports to Kaname, and had asked if there was anything else that he needed to do. With a boss like Kaname, there generally wasn't. He was a proficient worker, and knew how to get things done in a timely fashion.

That combined with his sense of justice left Shuuhei quite happy with his job. After Kaname had stated that Shuuhei just needed to input some information into the computer for the rest of the afternoon, he suggested that his secretary take a short break. Knowing that he would be able to get the rest of his work finished before the end of the work day, Shuuhei had taken Kaname up on his offer.

For the umpteenth time, Nanao pinched her nose. It was Friday, and Friday was supposed to be a good day. It meant the end of the workweek, and a weekend of relaxation, save this time it didn't. A good book and a cup of coffee was all Nanao wanted to have to have a good weekend, but not this weekend. Sunday meant spending time with her family for her birthday. She already knew what it would entail. The same thing as every year. Arising suddenly, Nanao decided to take a break. There was a new vending machine that had been put in, so perhaps she would stroll over there and see it, giving her an excuse to clear her head.

Shuuhei had been lucky, for the reporters had not been able to get into his office area. That was probably a good thing. He remembered how they could be like vultures. Especially with sexual harassment rumours floating around, Shuuhei didn’t want to discuss anything with them. They had a splendid talent for twisting words around. That was something that he hated.

Arriving at the vending machines, Shuuhei fished around in his pocket for the change he had thrown in there. Now the only question remained was what to get?

It was a brisk pace that she set out on. The click-click of her heels echoed in front of her. She had always liked that sound, for it reminded her of authority. Brushing a hand over her side bang, Nanao made her way to the vending machines. An annoyed sigh was given. She adjusted her glasses, moving away from the few reporters that still lingered in the building.

She was confused, annoyed, and now hungry. When she finally arrived at the vending machines, she noted that she was not the only one to get the idea to come. “Ah, good afternoon, Hisagi-san. Taking a break as well?”

He had still been deciding, though the resounding tapping of heals foretold the appearance of another. Casting a glance over his shoulder at the female’s voice, Shuuehi recognized Nanao. With a nod of his head, he turned his attention toward her. “Ise-san.”

A slight paused then. He had always found Nanao to be the portrait of perfection when it came to her work, and she wasn’t bad looking either, but she was rather, well, formal, even for his standards. “Yes. I was given leave to take one, so I decided to see about these new vending machines. Yourself?”

Purple eyes remained upon Shuuhei for a second. In a way, she was jealous of him, for he had a boss who worked and was respectable. Not that Nanao truly minded working for Shunsui. She had learned of his little habits, and took an evil glee in flushing out his hidden alcohol stores, which reminded her, he probably had a new one. Just Shuuhei’s job was the ideal one.

“I needed a small break. Those reporters always seem to bring stress with them.”

Shuuhei wondered if the reporters were the only thing bringing her stress. A small smile played on his lips as he turned his head away. He didn’t need her seeing he was smirking. Still…

“Yes. Seems like they are bugging all the wrong people today. At least no one was punched this time, or locked in an elevator.”

Shuuhei offered Nanao a smile. “So. Can I get you something? A chocolate bar, a bag of chips, perhaps something new and exciting?”
