"First Date" or "As the Nerd Turns"

So I just got back from my first date with Ashley McIrish. Mexican food for the win. I'm pretty sure we were the last non-staff members to leave. We were there so long that our waiter and his replacement left. It would seem the replacement's replacement thought we had paid already. We decided to be law-abiding citizens, minus all the crazy and murder, and pay the bill. So the date itself?

It was great! We talked the whole time, even with our fajita holes full of yummy fajitas. I opened with ,"So I told my friends I met this girl at the bar. They said, 'Right on. Is she cute?' I said, 'Of course she's cute!' They say, 'Still plausible.' Then I tell them, 'She's a nerd, too.' They say, 'Okay, now we know you're lying.'"

She comes back with, "I told my friends I met this guy at the bar and it seems like we have a lot of shared interests. For example, you liked Doctor Who. Then I said, 'He was able to name every Doctor from every season ever.' (Did I mention I'm a huge nerd?) So I told them other things we'd talked about and they're like, 'Awwww, you guys are like an old married couple! What are you gonna do for your first date? Go to the park and play chess?' (She starts laughing.) I said, 'Actually that sounds kind of appealing.'"

We compared nerd notes, discussed the boundaries of "how dork is too dork." I felt comfortable enough to reveal the depths of my dorkdom and she shrugged; said, "My last boyfriend was in to that. Maybe I have a type?" This girl is a HUGE nerd and it's awesome. We talked movies and education, we even discussed religion vs. faith of all things. She has to get up at 6 tomorrow morning, so no post meal activities, but there is talk of movies/episodes at a later date this week. Maybe karaoke on Thursday if her schedule allows. Seriously, the nerd levels on this girl are so high that at one point, I told her the date had become a formality and I was keeping her. I actually think I might. If she can come out to the bar Thursday, I'll get pics to share. Dinner just seemed an inappropriate place to break out the camera. :)
