oh ha ha

so amazon e-mailed me today to let me know that they couldn't get to my money.

"oh no" I thought "Fraud prevention have decided that my card was stolen while I was in the states and have cut my account off"

angry beyond the sense of the word (because after some thought once home I recalled that I'd TOLD my bank that I was going to the states!!) I stomped down to my local branch.

A calm conversation later I left with the fraud prevention number and the assurance that I should be able to at least access a cash point so that I could get some money with which to post sclez's parcel.

This was a lie.

Not only could I not get my money from the cash point but I couldn't get it from the post office either which lead to me having to take my parcel back and walk it aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllll the way home!

Now livid I picked up the phone and called fraud prevention.

After five minutes of pipe music (not joking) I finally got to talk to a person.

We went through everything and, once assured it was me, she traced back the rout of the issue.

This is where the 'humour' comes in.

You see it turns out that as the company that own the parking meters in Bath are based in Ireland my (attempt) to pay my parking fee was concidered an international transation. The fact that I'd already spent money in the UK made fraud prevention think that there was someone in Ireland with my card, spending my money.

Never mind that the meter was in england, or that it was located only a short walk from where said money had been being spent....

The 'best bit' about this whole thing for me was that, in the end, the dratted meter wouldn't take my card, which meant I had to walk back to a cashpoint, which meant that I ended out paying for another hours worth of parking because I'd just been on the cusp.

From now on I'm drawing out cash to pay that meter!!!!!!

oh also while on hold I got the message of "you don't need to tell us that you're going abroad", of course, this is why spending my money in America was so very easy.

Yes that is sarcasm!

oh and sclez I'm going to post your parcel tomorrow...in the hopes of not seeing that particular clerk again and thus not sparking the terrible shame memories!

fail, money
