[ Getting kidnapped by the Malnosso isn't something Sebastian honestly expected to happen. While he did predict Ciel's mallynapping, he was not expecting to be overpowered by those thingsThat isn't to say he didn't immediatly recover from the experience, no, rather he hopped right to a store to replace his tatted clothing, and then went about his ( Read more... )

You're back too now?

[The voice comes from an isle of the grocery shop, close by Sebastian. It's not hard to notice someone a foot taller than her so standout. Bern is looking for new tea mixes herself, along with ingredients for mustard rice cakes. She was wondering where he went since seeing Ciel before.]

[ ... ah. ]

That is so, Lady Bernkastel. I was delayed, it seems.

Very much so. It's unfitting for furniture to not assist their master in a time of need. [Not that seeing Ciel jumping around like a paranoid rat proved boring] I was sure he was going to die from all his blood loss too.

It would be most unfitting for my [ dinner ] Master to die in such a manner. I assure you, he is quite hardy. [ being tortured by cultists has its effects, you see? ] Though I do owe him a deep apology. [ he looks back at the apples, and grabs hold of one with his white gloved hand. apple pie? maybe some kind of filling for a cake? hmmm. ]

Your abandonment must have caused quite a shock. He fired a revolver at me like a careless puppy. Twice. [Not that she wasn't asking for it.]

[ ... twice. and he missed this? damn. all the good stuff happens when he's gone? come on, he has to suffer dealing with the little bra-- Young Master day in and day out, and he gets to miss the exciting stuff? humans are so tedious. ]

I do apologize for that. The Young Master is rather private, as you've likely observed. [ he places his free hand to his chest and bows to her. at least it has caused no damaged to her interest in either of them. ]

[Any day Ciel acts like a paranoid mess is a good day for Bern]

Very private. [...] The very mention of the brand on his back sent him into a panic. What a reckless child. I can't say I envy you. [Not that she sympathizes either.]

[ ... so she saw the brand. that explains it quite well. he stands and smiles down at her, still holding onto that apple. ]

I do so find it lamentable your experience with him was so unpleasant. As a butler of the Phantomhive estate, I can assure you, he is a most gracious person. [ and by gracious he means he gets to enjoy all the dirty secrets London hides. ]

[...See this face, Sebastian? It's the flat look of disbelief. Ciel. Gracious. Ha.]

It was hardly unpleasant. If anything, it would be more unpleasant if he didn't act upon his impulses. You have certainly been contracted by an intriguing mess of a child.

[ oh, for a bored demon, "gracious" is defintely the word to use. ]

Genuine intrigue is hard to come by. I consider myself lucky to have him as my Master.

[...alright no point of beating around the bush. She's fairly sure he won't respond with an answer she wants, but no harm in trying.]

You know about it, right. The brand on his back. I saw his right eye and it's clear you put that on him. However, where did that brand come from I wonder?

Indeed, where from?

[ he had nothing to do with the mark, so why should he care? ]

[Either he really doesn't know, or he's fucking with her.

If it's the former then way to be efficient you lousy chair.]

...Very well then.

I won't keep you from your apple picking. That boy must be starving by now if he can't even properly bandage himself.

Oh! How kind of you to worry about the Young Master. Worry not, I shall see to his full recovery. [ that was hilarious. he's not laughing on the outside, but boy is he enjoying a good guffaw on the inside. ]

I'm not worried. It's your job as furniture to make sure he is well. So, I'm sure you will do your duty. [And if not then who cares. It'll only show that the butler is even less of a threat than she already gauged.]
