The City's history? I don't think there's much that's really known. Why do you ask?

That figures. No books, then? Just the Network's archives?

Uh.... Curiosity, I guess. The morbid sort.

I've never seen any books about the City's own history, no. Now, I've been here for three years, so I know the history of that time and a little before that. Beyond that, yes, I suppose there's the Network, but I don't know how far back that goes or how easy it is to navigate. I know I can reach my own oldest entries. But beyond that

I see.

So, as far as you know, the furthest back the Network and everyone's memory go is, what-- five years at most?

That's not really much of a history...

It isn't much of a history, and I won't deny that it makes me more than a little suspicious.

...Because it is. You'd think the deities got rid of any records or evidence of those times, huh? If there was ever any! Or that it was lost somehow.

The 'deities' themselves may be the ones who hold the history.

...Just so everyone's in the dark about this place and how it started. Wouldn't that be a shocker.

Then I guess every effort to search the Library for books on this place would really be a waste of time.

It is rather like them to do something like that.

I don't know that it would be a waste of time, but I don't know that you'll find anything on the City either.

So you think it may still be worth a try. If the Library cooperates, I mean! I'm... really not counting on that.

There's no certainty, but it may yet be worth a try. Everything's worth a try, at least.

Alright, that's positive thinking! I could use more of that these days. Never mind tricky shelving systems: I'll go see if there's anything.

I hope you'll find something.

And, do forgive my asking, but I am curious as to what you're looking for and why.

[So this would be her attempt at being sneaky and get away with it.]

...I'm... really not sure what to look for! [Which is true.] I just want to know if this place was always like this. Or if it was any different BEFORE the curses started. Before it became like a prison for people from every world.
