But it's still a good thing, isn't it? It HAS to be. No matter how this place may try to use it to make us suffer for it...

That depends on how you define 'good,' doesn't it?

Something that gives you hope. Something that makes you think even being stuck in this place is worthwhile because it allowed you to meet that special person.

How can it really give you hope if you are constantly concerned with its loss?

I can't speak of romantic love because it's never happened to me. But... having someone you care about who also cares about you is always encouraging, isn't it?

I can't speak for everyone; there are some strange people out there.

However, I can speak from experience: All things crumble, and to everything there is a balance. With the acceptance of something positive, one must also learn to accept its demise.

Unfortunately, I can't say that it gets much easier with practice.

That's true. But you don't exactly get involved with someone thinking about how it may end sooner or later! You expect the whole thing to last!

Speak for yourself.

I... actually can't. But that's what I'll expect from a boyfriend, if I ever get one! Hopefully it won't be here...

...Wait. Mister Clow, are you saying you've started a relationship you didn't expect to last at all?

I don't expect anything to last forever, but I always hope that it will last what I'd consider to be quite a while and that it will end painlessly. Hopes are a bit safer to have than expectations, you see.

I worried about that for a second. Yuuko wouldn't

Is there really too much of a difference? Between expectations and hopes, I mean...

I believe so. When you expect a basket not to break you'll think nothing of putting all of your eggs in it. However, when you only hope it doesn't you'll think twice before doing so.

That's a funny example.

So... Does this mean it's better to put all our eggs in even knowing what this place can do... but being ready for it to break and bracing ourselves for the loss?
