OPA!
I realized earlier this week that Hellenic Festival/Pride weekend (they fall on the same weekend every year it seems) is one of my favorite times on the Buffalo calendar. I look forward to it like it's The Smiths v. The Cure, or a long weekend. More than anything -- Memorial Day, longer days, leaves on the trees -- it signals that SUMMER IS HERE!
I had some really good spanakopita today, with Greek salad and a wedge of pita and then these amazing little fresh donut hole things that are drenched in a cinnamon sugar syrup. Tomorrow is the Pride parade, truly one of the highlights of a Buffalo summer filled with many, followed by the festival on Bidwell and performances by Needle Up! and Bitch. I'm getting all of my chores out of the way this afternoon so I can properly enjoy myself tomorrow.
Next weekend: Brush Up Buffalo, Allentown Art Festival and Juneteenth.
The weekend after that, I go to Brooklyn!
