Goth is a Japanese film from 2008 that shares it’s story with the manga it was adapted from. Goth follows Morino and Boku, two death-obsessed high school students who find uneasy companionship in the joint task of following the work of a serial killer. While not a true horror film, even though it’s pushed in that genre, Goth stands on it’s own as a subtly creepy drama and is funny in places it probably shouldn’t be.
Verdict: Loved it! The pacing and cinematography are fantastic, and when I say cinematography - I do mean it. I don’t mean black and white, mime makeup, classic music and hipsters. I mean the way the film was shot, incredible to look at without being in any way over the top. Top notch acting from everyone, including Hongo Kanata and Takanashi Rin who never falter in their believably menacing friendship.
